GH2 Pre-orders

Just got the Amazon email, saying delivery is estimated for December 17th for the 14-140 kit. I had overnight delivery for it, so maybe maybe it will ship tomorrow?

Very excited! I pre-ordered at Amazon on Sept 23rd and finally just received an updated delivery date: Estimated arrival date: December 21 2010 - December 27 2010

I just received mine. I ordered it December 3rd from Panasonic Direct. I never received any tracking number and I wasn't able to track it through the order number method. I'm at my office now and it was delivered to my home so I won't be able to play with it for a little, but I'm just glad it came.
 
Also ordered it from PD on Dec 3rd, track it through the order number today and said it's coming tomorrow! By the way I have to delete the first two 0 on my order number to get the right track. You may try to take out one 0 at a time to see if you get it.
 
ordered on the 1st and still nothing. credit was charged the second time this weekends, now it's gone. this is epic!
 
FINALLY, I was able to track my package via reference number and according to UPS, I should get it on Friday !! Time to cancel my Amazon order.
 
Also ordered first thing in the morning on Dec. 1, but have yet to have my card charged or receive a tracking number. Like everyone else, I've been told three times (over the phone and via e-mail, including last week and this Monday), "Your order will ship tomorrow. Check back for a tracking number in 24-48 hours." I used to teach, and their message points sound like one of my students stalling, trying to turn in an assignment three weeks late.

Your shipment is moving within the UPS network and should be delivered on the Scheduled Delivery Date. A shipment can remain in this status until it is delivered. Other than time-definite air deliveries, shipments are generally delivered anytime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. (and sometimes later) to residences, and by close of business for commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window.

What should I do if I'm expecting a delivery?
This is the most up-to-date information about the status of your shipment. For residential deliveries that require a signature, you can leave instructions for the driver if no one will be home. For example, you can ask that it be delivered to a neighbor who will be home. Shipments that don't require a signature can be left in a safe place at the driver's discretion.

My PD order arrives tomorrow at a friends home in California.

Anyone have tips for ways to ship a camera boxed as a "gift" from US to Canada to avoid duty tax? Not that I would do that, just asking.
 
I think it's laughable, and I guess unfortunate, that I just ended up tracking my package with the reference number as opposed to receiving a tracking number from Panasonic. Their customer service is pretty lousy.

However, if I had to do it again, I probably would. The discount is well worth it.

Perhaps the reason Panasonic Direct can afford to offer the EPP discount is because they keep their overhead so low (understaffed call center, webmasters, etc).

I picture Panasonic Direct headquarters office as one person, one desk, one phone, one fax machine, and one ancient desktop PC running an old copy of Windows ME on which their website/online store runs. Shudder.

Ok, my reference number finally took using the UPS trick. It says: Billing Information sent to UPS and it also shows a tracking number. Did others here eventually get more shipping info in that box. It says return later for more detailed shipping info. I'm hoping so because I'll need to time when they come so I can sign for the damned thing. I ordered from EPP on Dec. 2. This will be my first DSLR ever so I'm pretty pumped.

ya mine started like that, but arrives tomorrow. Tracking progressed over past 2 days.
 
Since a lot of people have already received their GH2, anyone planning to do a comprehensive GH2 review ?

Shirely you jest. :-)

But, yeah, more reviews would be cool.

* My guess is that, as of this moment, probably fewer than 200 GH2 cams have been bought by customers in the US. More GH2s are trickling-in, but it's still only a trickle.

Here's my comprehensive review:

"The camera is all around better than the GH1. However, the new battery and cheapo charger are junk compared to the GH1's. And if you're looking for zebras, try the zoo."
