GH2 Pre-orders

Whelp, after waiting just over an hour on hold with Panasonic Direct (free call using Gmail, thanks zm15), the lady informed me that their system is running 2-3 days behind on processing orders. The lady confirmed that I'd see a charge on my credit card as soon as it was ready to ship out. For now my order status just says ship in 1-3 days.

Interesting note: she said they have GH2s currently in stock. Apparently the reason they removed the GH2 from being ordered on their website was because the photo depicted the camera including the lens. They got a lot of disgruntled calls from people unaware that they bought the camera body only.

So if you're still looking to grab a GH2, you might give them a call.

Edit: Looks like they changed the photo on their website and clearly labeled it body-only.
 
Here's a tip. Don't call Panasonic but contact them thru email. Someone called ME today for the order update.

I'm not surprised at all that they had complaints. At the time I thought ... wow, the S is gonna hit the F over the way that ad reads.
 
Vistek in Canada has black GH2's in stock. Calgary Downtown location has body only units. All locations except E-town have 14-140 kits.

Also, the 100-300mm Lumix G Vario lens is available up here too but you gotta call around.
 
No doubt. I never got any online notifications either.
I'm heading there in a few hours to pick mine up so I'll see if I can dig up any more info on stock and post back.
 
I just got a call from Christina at Leo's Cameras in Vancouver, BC. My GH2 w/14-140mm lens has arrived! They are shipping it out today and I should have it Friday.
 
Has anyone checked order status page on Panasonic? The items I have ordered disappeared. It's only showing the total amount.
 
FYI - I emailed Panasonic last night to see if they are still selling or when they will start selling again on their website. I have a Corporate discount so I want to buy it directly.

I'll let you know once I get a response.

I wish there was something else equivalent to the GH2 on the market, this company doesn't even deserve the attention that it is getting.
 
I'm anxiously awaiting for my GH2 like everybody else but I do feel people should try to relax a little. I expected this of Panasonic because this is how it was with the GH1. Just read all the old posts. On the other hand, my post may increase the anxiety so maybe it's going to do more harm than good. In that case, just pretend you didn't just read what I wrote.
 
I've said this before but I'll say it again. It's very frustrating to those of us who made pre-orders, more than two months ago, that some units are getting out to people who ordered 1 week ago.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for those people, but there really should be a little more control of the distribution system when there is going to be this much demand for a product. I guess I consider myself lucky that my Amazon order didn't get canceled like many others, however, I have no faith in the idea that those orders will be filled in a first come / first serve manner.
My GH2 and my 100-300 both say that they will be delivered AFTER Dec. 25th. If they arrive sooner, I will be pleasantly surprised but I'm not expecting it anymore. Reading these threads is not helping me be any less anxious about the whole thing.
