Yeah I installed Gtalk and signed up for Google Voice only to realize it was just built-in to Gmail.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to use it to call Panasonic tomorrow.

This sounds like the way tracking worked at the company I work for back when they used UPS.

What the hell, Leo's never mentioned anything to me about putting money down to reserve a camera. I have been on the waiting list since last Wednesday and they said I was third in line.
 
I know that Panasonic has stoped the direct sale of the GH2 through their website, but does anyone know if they are still taking orders through calling them? I did try calling them but they place you on hold for 45min plus and you can't really get through anyone there.

That's odd. I talked to Jeff (or Geoff). He didn't say anything about a waiting list to me. You should call back and see what's going on!
 
I don't think we will see our camera from Panasonic. I have a bad feeling the cameras are on backordered. I'm kind of pissed because one person who ordered half an hour later is receiving the camera today.

That depends on whether you believe "no" means "no", or if you believe "no" means "maybe".

If the latter, then sure, call Panasonic Direct and you'll probably wait on hold for a l-o-n-g time, and you'll probably be told the website means what it says: PD currently isn't selling the GH2.

Of course, there's a slight chance PD will tell you that you're in luck, and that they just got a GH2 in stock (maybe someone canceled an order or something?), and ask you if you want to buy it.

The choice is yours. To paraphrase the man: How lucky are you feeling today, punk? :D

But I suspect calling them today is probably a waste of time. Maybe.

Typical Panasonic. When I originally called them to order mine they told me that my Employer doesn't qualify for EPP they even put me on hold to go and make sure and verified that I don't qualify, so I went the other route. Today I find out that yes my employer and I do qualify for EPP except they don't offer the GH2 through Pana Direct anylonger. They are certanly making a lot of customers upset, very unprofessional of them and a total disaster for lunching a new product.
 
I called this morning around 10am CST, and waited about an hour to get through. Funny thing is I got a return phone call for the survey while I was on hold after about 30 min., unfortunately there was no option for that.

Anyways, they said my order left their warehouse, apparently in Illinois, on Friday 12/3. They did not have a tracking number from UPS, and said it wouldn't show shipped if they didn't have the stock. I ordered on 12/2 (hoping to see the kit option) probably during the time they started getting swamped. I live in the Dallas area. I ordered through EPP with my valid employer and never got a confirmation email either. I see the amount pending on my credit card, but not officially posted yet. Online it still just says shipping December on my pre-order status. If all that's true, there's a chance it could be waiting for me when I get home based on normal 3-day delivery times. Have any others' orders arrived yet?

Either Panasonic CS are full of crap or they actually shipped yours. I ordered a day earlier but mine hasn't shipped according to CS. I'd be quite pissed if they left me out. I think calling them is a waste of time, they don't know anything more than what's shown in order status page. My CC has a hold too but never turns into actual charge just a hold.

Where are you located dojoman? I've heard the west coast is getting them faster. I'm in Nebraska and I have the same story as you with CS.

I'm in West Coast but not getting shipping notice. I did hear on another forum who ordered the same day as me but half hour later is getting delivered today. He's also in WC.
 
They told me just now that mine is back-ordered with no expected date of delivery. Oh well, I have an order in with both them and National, we'll see who gets it to me first.
 
My CC hold dropped off... but no change in status from Panasonic, doesn't sound good- sounds like more waiting is in order- craziest wait for a camera for me...

Good thing Stu M. sent Panasonic a tweet on our behalf yesterday...

"Dear @Panasonic, please sell me a GH2. Signed, the United States."

Glad you posted yesterday. I called as soon as they opened this morning and indeed, they had one GH2 left for layaway. No idea who I talked to last Wednesday, but that's the last time I am polite by not calling for an update everyday.

Anyways, those GH2s should arrive tomorrow afternoon!
