GH2: No autofocus possible in 1080p24 mode???

I'm sure I must be doing something wrong, because I didn't have this problem on my GH1.

But with my GH2, I'm unable to use autofocus in AVCHD 1080p24 mode. When I press the shutter button half way down, nothing happens. Camera does not autofocus, even though autofocus is set to "on" in all menus.

i have noticed this too, but i mainly shoot in 720. it doesnt snap AF like the GH1 which i miss. for me it takes a good 1-2 secs before it focuses. too slow for live events

"GH2 owner" - So the GH1 will autofocus whilst shooting when I depress the shutter button half-way?

yes, and very fast. unless i am missing something with the gh2, its sooo slooooowww i hate it.
