GH2 - Monitoring audio while recording

OK, say I'm looking for a simpler, lazier connection for either my GH2 or GH1. I want to hook up my headphones just to my camera and monitor the sound, THAT'S IT! All clean recording my shoot is doing is from external recorder. So, with that in mind, how can I simply connect my Panny to headphones JUST to monitor sound, and to not record anything used in final edit? Dont want azden, dont want juicedlink, no heavy adaptors. Can the method in this video work, sans external shotgun mic?

Jamal, in that video you are monitoring the microphone, not the camera. I don't know of a way to monitor the camera yet. You can do it on a T2i with a special cable, but I'm not so sure on the GH2.

I can not see any way possible to monitor audio after the record head on a GH2 unless some software hack becomes available. It looks to me the best we can do is hear what comes in on the mic ( I monitor the audio in on my Zoom h4n using a cable that splits and adds a pad and that side goes into the camera and the other to my headsets) At least this way we can listen for clothes russell, wind noise and drop out. I playback monitoring out of the AV usb connection using the cable supplied by Panasonic. What I would really like is a Panasonic usb straight to female mini to lessen the wanky set up I have now. Any clues out there? Thanks
