GH2 GH2 Merlin Steadicam B-cam Quandary - Need Help!

Hi,
I'm considering getting a GH2 as a B-cam. I plan to pair it up with a Steadicam Merlin.
With the dof involved, I'm planning to pair that up with a 14mm f.17.

Objective deep focus for follow shots, running etc.

I've seen plenty of merlin 5D shots with everything in focus.

So I'm guessing stop down to increase dof or is there an automatic function that keeps
my subject in focus as they walk/run/whatever?
 
Wide is good, harder with longer lens, should be at 5.6 or more. If you're shooting people the face focus mode does amazingly well.
