I'm sorry...J&R was the place I was looking (I've been all over the web scouting deals- hard to remember where I see things sometimes)...they have them there (of course I don't know if they are hackable...you're probably right, most likely not.
 
I just spoke with Panasonic Direct and they said they have no ETA on when the cameras will be in stock. Last week they said they were getting a shipment in that week. I ordered a week before Christmas and still no camera. I'm really considering just canceling the order and getting a 60d or d7000 as this is becoming ridiculous. The problem is the EPP price is almost worth the wait.
 
Called PD and requested that--when the shipment comes in--they ship me my camera express on their dime. After some insistence they agreed. Not much in the way of consolation, but something at least.
 
woodcarver: Do you remember the name of the rep you spoke with at PD to get the express ship? I requested that today and they said "sorry we can't do that".
 
Don't remember the name of the rep. She talked to her supervisor and said, it will cost $12.50. I said I'd like the expedited shipping for free. She said, "I"m sorry, we can't do that." I said, why not? I've been waiting a long time for an order that, according to the website, should have been sent to me weeks ago. Sending the order express without charge seems like the least you could do. She talked to her supervisor and then told me they would send it express without charge. I was just insistent and polite. It was barely worth the time I spent on hold, but it made me feel a little better...which is rather pathetic, but there it is.
 
Anyone else waiting on a provantage order. I'm almost wishing I bought the silver model. My black gh2 with 14-42 keeps getting pushed back to a theoretical ship date of January 26th. But the way it's going it might be sometime in February with all the issues everyone else is having. $905 with 2 day shipping and the 14-42mm lens is the only thing keeping me holding on. Especially if I can sell the lens for anything.

Had an order with provantage, but cancelled about a week ago it since I also ordered from PD EPP 12/21 after placing the order with provantage 12/17. Seemed like both were taking forever, so I figured if I was going to be waiting indefinitely, might as well be for the one that costs $300 less since I didnt actually want two cameras. I was thinking id cancel the other one as soon as one shipped. I figured worst case I might sell the provantage one if both shipped before I was able to cancel one, but now it seems like it wouldnt be worth the trouble to sell it anyway. Seems like a GH2 couldve been worth a lot on ebay a couple weeks ago but by the time I get mine and they are in stock everywhere street price could be lower than provantage's price.

Yeah I just missed out on the whole EPP deal, but provantage still offers me a far better price than anything I can get in Canada. We are the last to see discounts it seems. Everyone still tries to sell the GH1 for $1300-1400 and the gh2 body alone is $1000 before taxes.

But in the end my order from Provantage arrived today without warning or a tracking number. My order status with them still shows "awaiting confirmation from regional warehouse" So obviously somebody isn't communication properly if I can be told on Friday it won't ship until the 26th or later and then I get it on Tuesday. Not that I am complaining since I now get to use it on a shoot on Saturday as a b-cam, but some proper notification would be nice.

Weird, well thats no fun. Did he mention why some people who ordered in late December already received theirs yet some of us who ordered earlier havent? I'm hoping mine is just magically in UPSs hands and taking its time to get here...

No. I've heard different things from different people--the website crashed; the cameras are being fulfilled in order, but we can't tell you where you are in that order; etc. I talked to a supervisor yesterday who called me this morning and gave me the February news with no guarantee that my order will be fulfilled with that shipment. Prior to that she seemed to indicate that there was a problem with some people's orders and they were working to resolve it. However, I talked to a floor manager later on today who said they're still communicating with the warehouse and that I'll be called back in a couple of days. I've talked to 6 different people since I ordered and everyone has a different story. Speak to a supervisor if you can; everyone else is full of it and has no real concern for the issue.

Honestly, if I weren't so used to Panasonic cameras I'd cancel my order, get a 60D, and never give Panasonic my money again.

Like lots of people I have been following this since preorders began and back then some people were being told "January and
February" deliveries. Now here we are in January and low and behold, the supply chain is opening up. I got mine today from Provantage, ordered back around the first of December. I cancelled a previous order from Adorama and it looks like some of those might have shipped a couple of weeks ago. I still have two more on order and would not be at all surprised to see those in mid February. Those I ordered form Unique just maybe a couple of weeks ago from the link on this site. But the fact these are no longer doing stupid money on Ebay tells me the crushing demand has waned. I am assuming most of the stupid money, already ordered elsewhere and are now in the "wait" mode for delivery.

I called PANASONIC yesterday to ask them about the banding issue I've been seeing online with the US and Japanese models released in 2010. With the lack of complaints from Europeans who just launched this month, I asked them if that problem has been fixed since the initial 2010 shipments and they said YES.

They said the reason that the US is without any product right now is because that issue is being fixed. So, rest assured when you DO receive your model (Likely January he said) It will be fixed of the banding issue that plagued filmmakers who bought it a month too soon.

As I understand banding is universal issue.
Plus if Panasonic tells officially that they had this problem and it had been fixed they will be in big trouble.
OF course, they can fix it. But it'll be completely silent.

Yeah, the PD call center has no idea what's going on and it shows. I know through personal experience that they'll agree with whatever you say just to get you off the phone.
 
Just checked the ups reference tracking and apparently the silver gh2 I ordered on 1/7 is going to be delivered today. Still no word on the black body I ordered on 12/16
