GH2 in stock thread

I wonder if something is up by ordering on December 28th since that was the day I placed my order with Panasonic...I just got an email saying it had shipped today and I should have it this Friday...
 
That's weird. I placed my order for the black body on 12/16 and it still hasn't shipped. Has anyone else ordered before the 28th and not had theirs shipped?
 
I ordered on 12/15 and am also still waiting.

Edit: I checked my other email and it did ship. Tracking data indicates 2nd day air, should be here Friday.

Yup, I ordered from Panasonic Direct on 12/21 and it hasnt had any movement at all since the day I ordered. I've been checking order status periodically. Did you use EPP?

I ordered mine 12/28 through the regular retail site, shipped yesterday...tired ordering through EPP first but the link was dead for me...Maybe retail sales are prioritized over EPP sales?
 
Maybe, though I was originally prompted to decide to order through EPP after hearing someone on this forum say they ordered through EPP and had already received theirs, and that was when GH2s were even more rare...
 
Just cancelled my order with Panasonic Direct, since their site showed them in stock (shipping in 1-3 days) when I placed the order 3 days ago, but now when I call they tell me they're on backorder and "should ship next week sometime". Plus, they would have charged me $900 just for the body.

Unique Photo (http://www.uniquephoto.com/), mentioned earlier in this thread, doesn't have them in stock currently, but their price is the best I've seen: $737 for GH2 body only. They're located in Fairfield, NJ, so you don't pay tax in other states (sadly, I am in Jersey so I pay another $50 tax).

Placed my preorder over the phone (800-631-0300, very nice to deal with), and they won't charge me til it ships (didn't even take my CC# yet).

Any better prices out there?

I envy everyone who already has their GH2(s) in hand ;)

Thanks for that link. I just stopped looking at used GH1's now. At that price, I see $699 right around the corner. Which puts the GH2 just a few hundred dollars difference from the used GH1's, and not really worth it for me to buy used anymore.
Yes, I know all about the hack, and everything else. But for me, the ETC is what I'm sold on with the GH2-plus less noise, etc.
 
Mine has finally shipped from PD and I had to get the tracking # using the reference method. This lesson has thought me to never ever buy from PD again.. corporate discount be damned!!
 
I highly recommend Unique... They were top notch and they sold all of their units due to this very thread.... I usually buy from B and H, but they seem to be doing something weird right now and have nothing in stock....

I would check this forum to see who's selling theres and that PD seems like a major nightmare... But guys, it's all worth it in the end.. it's a great camera and it offers a lot of possibilities for a very nominal price.
 
Because of this thread, I cancelled my order through PD and ordered through UniquePhoto. If they give me good service, I'll come back!
