GH2: Howto best setup for Video?

Yes.. the menus and the manual aren't laid out very well. I can also do without all of the very quirky soccer mom elements. It's a far cry from the simplicity and elegance of the HMC or the HVX in how it's laid out and certainly the manual. I know it's a jack of all trades kind of camera but it was really confusing how one set of controls is somehow linked to another and blah blah blah... I guess I'll figure it out, but I love the build and the images already look good.

Would be great to get to read a best way to set up for video and a few odd stills. One thing I don't know is how to set up 30p, 60p, etc. Thanks

I too would love for a quick guide to gettting started.... and I've read through the manual today. I think I just have to let it sink in cause it's not laid out at all like the 7D obviously and not much like the 150. It's the closest to the SD9 and the TS1 that I have... So when I get the AF100 I'll have 5 different panasonic HD cameras....

Sign me up for a mini quick start guide from someone, this manual is horrible. I can't even figure out how to get ETC to come on. I have it switched to 'on' but then what? My FOV never changes?
Also there has been times where I have a decent looking image on the lcd screen but then the recorded image looks no where near that? I thought that was the whole point of a monitor, supposed to look like what's on it.
There's so many things that say when you change option x to y, then option a, b, c, d will all change too.
Frustrating, maybe just expecting to learn everything too fast.

Mickee.... I'm experiencing this but it's getting a bit clearer now that I shot today... I am just used to the broadcast cameras and how functional they are and how intuative and how well written the manual is. There's even a pet setting with this camera... and something called party.. lol.

I for one would love a knowledgable GH1 person just to cut through the BS and put up his/her thoughts.... Especially I'd like to know about setting up 60p, 30p and the optimal 24p setting. There's certainly a whole bunch of technology wrapped up in the camera and so far I do love it.... Takes quite nice photos and the video even with the kit lens is really pretty darn cinematic... I might be one of those doofuses who goes all Narrorw DOF for a while...

Best and only good gh2 I Founded so far is first post in this thread. Everything else is sucks! Escially manuel! Canon so easy by comparison! Lol!

GH-2 just happens to be a very complex consumer camera that happens to make better video pictures than a Canon "professional" stills camera does...

Menus? Not crazy about them , but I learned them really fast.
Custom Assignable buttons? Pretty easy.
Onboard LCD=Terrible
Onboard EVF=AMAAAAZING!

Has anyone tested the effect of the NR setting? ***EDIT*** Just found this video and information:

From user Sage:

I would recommend lighting to achieve 320 iso without NR. If you can't light to 320, then 640 would be the next point to aim for. If you want to pull off those really lowlight shots of a city, etc., 1600 with nr would the last iso to aim for. (nr seems to improve blue channel banding somewhat)

Always been one to want to get the image as raw as possible (least amount of in camera processing) but not sure if this would hurt or help the footage.

I put it at -2 for good measure.
