GH2 GH2 horizontal yellow band - please help

I am having a similar issue. Horizontal bars of color. It doesn't always look like this, but this is the most dramatic example of this problem. Thankfully it hasn't plagued any shots that would hamper a project, but I am curious as well if there is a solution. This is under high iso, 20mm pancake lens, stock GH2.

HotConductor, your problem is not a problem and not the same as the pixel banding problem. This is because of florescent lights so don't worry. Lots of information on this in other posts.

Hotconductor...
change your shutter speed to downwards.... the bands should disappear.

I was on a film set last week and watched the lighting people work. They shut off the existing fluorescent lights and installed their own fluorecent lights which does not flicker or cause banding.

They were shooting with a Red camera.

Framerate-> hahah, that's funny as I remember my Dec09 GH1 having some really serious banding. And I mean serious:] I guess there's no formula, just luck :)

Absolutely agree.

I bought the first GH1 in November 2010 (while I was waiting for the GH2, which was on pre-order) The GH1 was on a clearance, brand new & boxed, for £250 - so I just couldn't resist, and planned to sell it when I got my GH2.

When it came I was immediately struck by the absence of any banding (I posted some tests on Vimeo due to an unbeliever :cheesy:) and it really was very clean.

Then the first GH2's were delivered in the USA - and the problem of banding reared up. so I cancelled my order and decided to wait.

In January, the same retailer got his hands on some more GH1's from the same batch (£50 more, this time) and I bought another one based on the serial number (December 09) - and, once again, it was clean.

Yet, around the same time, someone on DPReview bought a January 2010 GH1 - and it was riddled with banding. So, yes, it's a lottery (which it certainly shouldn't be)

The disturbing thing is that the lottery seems to have continued with the GH2 - that is inexcusable, imo.

I'd really like a GH2 for the HDMI output (and have hovered over the 'buy' button a few times - but the thought of possible banding just makes me stop.

I think that my best plan is to wait for the Sony Nex7, or even the GH3 (but, given Panasonic's track record, I wouln't bet my kidneys that it, too, didn't have some sort of sensor problem)

>>With correct exposure you can go up to ISO 3200 without getting the band

This matches my experience (with a December ''10 Gh2). Maybe its just me, but thinking back to the state of chips a even year or so ago, I feel some folk need to reset their expectations a bit for what they will get at high ISO. I do agree that banding at ISO800 would be annoying, but I don't see any such problems at that ISO.
