GH2 Horizontal Band in 24p mode

So I just got my GH2 tonight and after shooting a few test videos in 24P mode (smooth, 1/50 shutter speed) I am getting really bad banding (not sure if this is the right term) about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom as seen here:

720p looks fine as do stills. Since all the sample GH2 footage I have seen looks clean I am guessing I just got a bad copy here. Anyone else seen this?

Kinda bummed. Took so long to get this little gem and now I have to a) return it or b) try and warranty it ...

Just Google 'GH2 Banding'...you'll find it's well know, well documented and usually most noticeable in certain conditions like high iso and/or bright light sources from certain angles etc etc. Also, usually dropping to 1/30 shutter will remove it...not the best shutter speed but often usable for low motion stuff at high iso.

Thanks guys. Yeah testing at night with the dog slow 14-140 (I have the 20mm on order) might not have been my best first test :)

The ISO was set to auto so I am guessing it was pushing it very high. Just did a test @ 1/30 shutter speed in low light and I still am seeing it.

Also is it only in 24p mode as I seemed to observe or were my could of 720p clips just lucky?

Thanks much!

Is this fpn problem happening to all GH2s? Most? A few? This makes me sick after having to deal with fpn with the GH1.

Looks like Panny forgot to enable Night Vision on your defective GH2. Send it to me for more testing! ;)

I removed the video from Vimeo as it really added nothing to this known issue. And thanks for the snark guys!

I can drive a car at 40 mph in first gear and then complain that the engine noise is unacceptable. Why would I do that? I notice in other posts that people are saying they notice this issue when underexposing by two stops. Why would you do that?

Properly lit and exposed, the GH2 produces fantastic images. JMHO

Not the same thing stoneinapond. One should be able to underexpose sometimes to preserve hilights without having a problem like this.

This is nothing like FPN. I'd deal with something like this over that any day.

Agreed, as stated, that it was a poor first test.
