GH2 has the most inflexible color engine of all DSLR's

You caught him in his lie. I've read the entire thread and repeatedly notice, he doesn't really have much to back up what hes saying. Why doesn't he just show us footage from his GH2 and compare to his Canon 5D II?

Lying!!? You must be joking. My gibberish response was because I couldn't really comprehend the objectivity of dclouds message. If he sees more saturated colors then I believe i'm probably not on the same planet as he is. I'm not talking which footage looks better but simply GH2 is not as saturated and vibrant as the 5D. If anyone is lying then it's dclouds.. either he has some kind of special selective eyes or he's just lying because he likes the GH2 more. And anyway.. I do far more shots on the Nikon D7000 than on the Canon 5D .. 5D is my B camera... it's rather a coincidence that most comparation videos have been a gh2 vs 5D.

If you call trolling buying a 1000$ worth of hardware + 50$ for the adapter and comparing the color information that the camera outputs on the forum then please be my guest. The videos speak for themselves.. no need for my "trolling".. lol

Apples to oranges? Well alot of the videos you can find are not really apples to oranges... and yeah it's always the damn user who couldn't set the right mode with the right BW, with the right saturation, with the right dynamic contrast and etc.... even though the other compared camera looks to be set well all the time.. coincidence? heh

The issue is not about what you like or you don't like .. it's about what is really there in the data and how can you crank the machine to spit out what you want.

Look, it literally took ONE minute to match the skin tones, and they look pretty darn close to me...

Spending more time would obviously yield better results, but these don't point toward the GH2 being inflexible for grading... if anything, the flatter image is BETTER for grading than a punchy one from the offset.
My first test video out of the box with my GH2 looked great to me.

...but dcloud has an AF100.

Ian: Umm well that doesn't have to do with anything.. he probably doesn't get that the picture was post processed by another member to look more like the 5D shot.

MM : Canon psyop? Well I am an senior account manager at a PR company but Canon or Nikon was never our client.. Sony was but since our market here is so small and the budget not that big we have never been monitoring discussions on the internet :P So maybe you're a PR guy for Panasonic :P

im looking at the gh2 vs 5d mk2 video.
the panasonic looked pleasing for me. and because i prefer the misty ungraded look so i can grade it in post.

heres a tip.
ebay. sell your gh2.
id buy one but i dont have money for a gh2 right now. my af100 has my attention right now :P

"gh2 looks so muhc prettier while the canon has less saturation for my taste anyway. "

no here's a tip ... look at what you wrote ;)

"sorry but the panasonic gh2 looks so muhc prettier while the canon has less saturation
for my taste anyway. " thats a separate line. i think i phrased it wrong though

let me rephrase it, i prefer the misty ungraded look. which shows information on the shadow area. unlike the darker one in the 5D. the colors dont matter to me as i can always cange its look in post. heres a clear descritpion of what i dont like on the 5D: lower resolution & dark shadows. I may prefer the gh2 but that does not mean canon dslrs can go to hell.

I have used a 5D or other canon cameras and ive never used a gh2 in my life.

so i dont know why your pushing for gh2 sucks when you can buy the one you prefer and get rid of the gh2. for god sake i dont even understand why your being nitpicky on what i say. go get rid of the gh2 and get a 5d mk II.

somebody close this thread. makrofag keeps putting fuel on the flames.

and that name feels like was created just to be made fun of.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Makro, try not to be so mean.

I dunno. He's complaining about specific situations. Maybe we are talking about the way the GHs handle overexposure? maybe mixed/colorful lighting? I just didn't see the awfulness he's referring to. Why don't you edit your footage and post it here after you show it to your client? Then we can try to figure out what exactly you are talking about.

mr. Markofrag, I will boughted your gh2 if you don't want it. Lol! So easy to sell! Please! I will boughted it! Lol!

I don't think Macrofag is intentionally wasting people's time, but he is posting somebody elses footage as an example, when this thread is all a bit moot without original footage for us to pick over.

Makrofag - post us some original comparison footage, with info on shooting modes etc. please!

Yes of course, maybe that orig footages not Even
Gh2! Maybe betamax! Lol! How can you guys argue! No science here! Macrofrog must post it with setting lol.

Again, if you go to a night club with all kinds of lights bouncing around in different shapes and colors and your footage comes out with weird colors DO NOT COMPLAIN! It is not exactly a very good example to judge any camera's color reaction. That's all. Cameras no matter how expensive they are don't have magical powers to create beautiful footage all the time. Many factors come into play, especially proper lighting or proper manipulation of available light. And as any cinema or photography pro knows then comes color correction.
