Being a Canon guy for ages, I finally picked up a GH2 recently. I do a lot of wildlife/telephoto work and although I am enjoying the GH2, I sorely miss having image stabilization on my Canon L lenses. I have done some research into some of the adapters that are supposedly in-the-making and here is what I have found:
Metabones is planning on releasing an adapter Q1 of 2013. I'm not sure what functionality it will have, but if they come out with an adapter that controls aperture, IS and autofocus I will be in heaven.
Redrock has an adapter that controls aperture via a 9v battery and small control unit attached to the adapter. No control of IS however.
Kipon was suppose to be coming out with an electronic adapter, but I just received a reply from them stating the following:
"We have no plan to sell this adapter officially now, there have law risk."
Birger was suppose to have something in... (pick a year). I have written to them, but no response.
Does anyone have any further information? It would appear to me that Metabones is are only hope for an adapter that will engage IS on Canon lenses as well as aperture.
Thanks,
AJ
