Hey all,

I shot an impromptu live performance for a friend. Every thing went well, there is one file that will not transfer from my sd card to my drive (cpu hdd or external.) I can however import it from my sd card from the laptop reader, but it only plays for about 2 minutes then the sound goes, video is fine, but sound just stops. Now I, will be syncing the audio of the performance as the venue records each show, so that saved me. Any ideas to what could have cause this? Ive seen a few issues here but not that many... Was this a "freak" occurrence? Out of 22 clips only 1 has this issue that cant be imported to my any of my drives, I get this message 846 mpbs (of 3.19 gigs) (not the longest clip) in:

The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “00019.MTS” can’t be read or written.(Error code -36)

I cant afford to loose this clip Can this file be fixed? Any ideas?

Try a data recovery utiiity to see what it can salvage. A while back I used PhotoRescue to save a big chunk of a corrupt video file. PhotoRescue runs as a free demo that will show you what it has recovered before you decide to pay for it (you have to pay to save the results).

If you were running your camera in a high bitrate hack mode, try using a less demanding patch next time for better reliability. The more demanding patches run more of the risk of having file spanning errors, which might be the cause of your problem.

The camera was not hacked, I was running stock firmware, I'll try that program to see f it works, thanks htinla.

One potential cause may have been failure to format the card in camera before each project use. Eventually this will catch up to you and can cause corruption of one or more files, or the whole card.

SanDisk will let you get by with this for longer than most other brands but it will eventually happen even with SanDisk.

While it is generally recommended to format the card ONLY in the camera and not in the computer, the GH2 does not offer a "low level" formatting option so periodically I do a low level format in the computer then format the card immediately in the camera so the camera can apply it's own file folder structure.

This procedure should not be attempted on a MAC without first doing some research on MAC forums. On a PC it is simple and straightforward but some trying to format the card in a MAC have run into complications unless certain procedures are followed and I don't know what those are.
