Hey guys. I just bought a gh2 and am loving it. Unfortunately i have no clue how to set up my video footage (avchd) for editing on final cut pro. File conversion and log and capture is really confusing to me right now. My main thing is to keep as much quality as i can in my footage through uploading, editing and exporting to compressor. I know there has to be a thread on this already but i wasn't able to find in search options... Hopefully someone can just post some simple step by step tutorials on how to log and edit avchd footage for final cut pro. Thanks guys. hope someone could help me.

Well, I just posted this same question and just found your thread... unanswered. Did you ever find out how to get the footage into FCP? I have shot some test stuff in 24p cinema mode, and don't have a clue what to copy over to FCP from the memory card... :\ Thanks for any help!

I answered this is another thread, but here goes again. The actual video files from the GH2 are in PRIVATE/AVCHD/BMVA/STREAM and are all called 0001.mts etc. Just copying these files is no good since FCP also uses other information contained in other folders on the SD card. Copy the whole of the PRIVATE folder to your hard disk (it makes sense to rename it as something meaningful so that you know what's in it) and then go to File/Log&Transfer and point the program to the folder. FCP will then find the clips.

Alternatively use Disk Utility to make a new disk image of the Private folder and archive that. Mount the archived copy on the computer and use Log and Capture to import what you want. Alternatively if you don't want or need to archive any of the original material just connect the camera to the computer and use Log and Capture after the pointing to the PRIVATE folder. Good luck.
