Ok, I will admit that I haven't actually recorded 60P that often with the GH2, since it required dropping down to 720p.
In the past I've done it a handful of times, and I thought it was achieved by setting to manual movie mode and then 720p in the recording options. Panasonic has a funny habit of not labeling their video mode options with framerates, so just usually keep in 24p. However, I recall it being: 1080p is 30fps unless in cinema mode for 24, 1080i is 60i, and 720p is 60p.
That being said, here's my problem:
I recorded a bunch of clips for a music video that I intend to slow down in 720p, and sure enough my computer recognizes the clip as a 59.9fps. But when I conformed it to 24p, it seemed very choppy playing back. Felt like it was missing frames, like I had throttled down a 24fps shot instead of overcranking and conforming from 60. Sure enough, when advancing frame-by-frame in my NLE, every other frame is a duplicate! It wasn't 59.9fps, but rather 29.97 in a container with 2x the fps!
I'm so very frustrated, I mean I can still slow it down to 24 and get a little bit of the overcranked effect, but nothing like what I was trying to achieve (and there is no time to reshoot).
But more importantly, what did I do wrong and how can I avoid it in the future? Did I somehow record 720i? It doesn't appear to be interlaced at all, but then why is it doubled-up? I'm too tired to think so its very possible I'm overlooking something simple.
