GH2 Delayed to Feb 2011, wondering what I should get instead.

I'm getting the AF100 in January and my plan was to get the GH2 so long to practice lenses and get the hang of the tech side of film making.

According to this article: (URL Removed - twas a hoax) the GH2 is delayed. <-- Fail.

It would seem that the GH1 is the only m4/3 option for me but it seems like such a waste of money as I am being quoted exactly the same price for a GH1 as the GH2 will be.

My plan is to build up a nice collection of m4/3 lenses while i wait for the AF100.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

this is what they say

Panasonic GH1 cameras that have been firmware hacked to improve video quality are showing signs of sensor damage due to overheating. The hackers had to increase voltage to the sensor and image processor to increase recording bandwidth but even a slight increase will damage the fragile silicon wafers. Hacking the GH1 voids the manufacturer warranty. Tens of thousands of dollars were donated by gullible people who purchased the lame-duck camera, but unfortunately the money went into the pockets of those involved with the project and the unscrupulous web site where the hack originated. At this point do not purchase a used GH1 period… there are thousands of damaged cameras being sold to unsuspecting buyers.

Im wondering where are they getting this info

Total BS ^

If you're wondering where he's getting his info, he isn't getting it from anywhere; he's inventing it all. God knows why... just some sad individual I suppose.

He may be sad but he is probably making money while he is sad. Advertising is huge now. Every time someone posts a link to his site he is making money.

So if you really don’t like what he is doing let’s ask the OP to remove the link altogether. Unless the OP is also the owner of the site? Every click he gets will just keep encouraging him to continue doing what he is doing.

I think the text "sc@rletwhore" should be permanently banned from all sites.

thanks he must have made money with my click but this is all hes getting from me, no trustable sources = no quality info, so im not wasting my time any more on that site.

My 2 gh1 has been hacked nearly from the beggining and all i have is happy times, Lpowell reliable patch is great.

This is absolutely false scaremongering. The GH1 hack works entirely in software, it is incapable of altering any hardware electrical voltages inside the camera.

Phew.

Ok great.

I'll remove the linky.

If it is simply a clever way of getting hits to his site then he is one clever demon!

Anyhoo, I'm off to wipe the pie off my face...

how is it possible this guy to make money?
who pays?
it seems a good business, can anyone explain to me please?

The advertising companies. If you make an agreement with them to have adds on your site, you'll either get money every time someone clicks on the add, every time someone clicks on a page with the ad or both, etc.
For a site that doesn't get much traffic, the money doesn't seem high at all but if someone posts something that ends up being a hot topic, they can get traffic from multiple sites and a lot of them such as DVXuser can really bring a good amount of traffic.

You can only imagine how much money someone made for showing off an allegedly stolen iPod on his site and that site was already a very big money maker.

Basically if you can set up a site in which the traffic is gigantic, you can literally live off the ad money. I mean you'd be surprised how much money some sites make just on ads. Again that's only if you get it to be very successful.

how much money can you make out of decent traffic? :)

Sometimes you don't need traffic, only links from large reputable sites. So, you'll be highly ranked site, advertising prices go higher, and you could sell such site later at any time.
Go to any SEO forum. You'll be amazed about amount of ideots trying to make their sites without any usable content popular.

I saw a recent article in Time that listed the top 10 earners on youtube. All of them made more than $100,000 a year and some of them made as much as $250,000 a year just from their silly videos they put up each week.
