GH2 GH2 colour accuracy problems!

Hello everyone,

I love the GH2 and would like to shoot my next short film using it instead of my 5D. I have some huge issues with colour though and I never truly know exactly what I am recording.

The LCD on the cam is seems to have a lot of magenta compared to what the footage actually looks like. I have a generic 5inch HDMI monitor but the colours on that are even further off the LCD!

If I forked out and rented a more expensive monitor such as a Marshall, would the colours on that be accurate?

Do most people just white balance with a card and mainly use their LCD/Monitor for framing and focus?

Yes, I do this with cheap monitors that have poor color fidelity. ( I also use a 22 inch Samsung 5003 LED TV set for this purpose because it's full 1080 HD resolution, so it shows everything in your image )

I also own a Sekonic C500 color meter, which I use to measure the color temp of light sources and then set my camera's WB using the Kelvin color temp scale. ( this has been the most accurate method for me, but I don't own a decent monitor to compare with )

I do the same, either WB with a card, or set the temp manually. You can always correct in post, and in fact there's probably not a film made today, regardless of camera or format, that isn't corrected in post. Get as close as you can, and shoot away. Don't let this be s stop when it comes to using the GH2.
