Can anyone tell me what the autofocus is like on the GH2 in video mode ?

How does it focus and what will it focus on and most important, does it work ?

I have been googling this but cant turn up any interesting info yet.

It will focus only as well as you tell it to. There is no focus tracking with the GH2 during video like there is on the G2/G10. However, if you shoot with a broader depth of field and use the touch screen you can usually keep what you want in focus. Basically, if you shoot with a broader depth of field like a camcorder has it will work just like a camcorder does. If you try to shoot with a very shallow depth of field like a DSLR it will auto focus poorly just like pretty much all DSLRS do during video. The Sony A55 is probably the only camera that can autofocus as good or better than the GH2. Otherwise AFS is your best option instead of AFC.

It also depends heavily on the lens you are using. The video optimized ones (14-140 ect) do a decent job but older ones like the 20mm pancake are slower and tend to hunt more, also the focus motor is not silent on the 20mm (I still love that lens, just have to setup your shots well).

With the 14-42 autofocus is silent and pretty fast, but since you lack the tracking feature it is not usable for moving objects. When it looses focus, it pumps heavily back and forth for about 2-4 seconds. And you can never be sure, when it decides to do so. I prefer manual focus to be honest.
