Gh2 audio xlr recording and monitoring; please help!!!

I'm shooting a short skit in two weeks and I need a way to record and monitor sound from the GH2. I have an Audio Technica AT897 on an shockmount sitting on the GH2's hot shoe. Now here is the dilemma; I bought a Y adapter to plug into the 2.5mm jack of the camera. The jack goes from 2.5mm to two 3.5mm jacks. I supposed I could plug my pearstone xlr to 3.5mm jack from the mic in one, and my headphones into the other. Didn't work. Does any one have a solution?

If you look at the Juicedlink adapter it can provide you with XLR inputs an a headphone jack, but keep in mind you are monitoring te mixer and not the camera so there is always the possibility of a problem going into the camera. Most everybody on this board with tell you to go with a dual system and record the audio separately on something like the zoom h4n but I personally don't like this process in post. Even when using plural eyes it's a whole lot of added work particularly on projects with several takes and angles. So the juicedlink will have an output that goes into your cameras mic jack, it has level meters XLR inputs and a headphone jack. The results I've seen online have been really good. I'm sure lots of people will be against this setup on this board but or makes sense for my workflow. The juicedlink dt454 cost $419. And sorry but using that splitter won't work.

I guess I'm stuck using two system sound then. I already have a Tascam Dr-100 with a Rode Blimp system and a Ktek avalon boompole. Its always important though to have good reference audio from the cameras themselves, coverage on both the visual and audio aspects is important. $419 is ALOT of money for an accessory, especially since my GH2 already has manual audio control, and all I could do is adjust the levels(what I really mean is that I've spent close to $3000 since Christmas on just equipment alone; being sole producer for a 5min short is HARD, lol) Thanks Ram S.O.S, but I wanna give the 2.5mm a try still. Any more suggestions?

Give the 2.5mm a try Also dual systems work for sure. 419 is a Lot, but it does give you up to 4 inputs, phantom power and line level inputs along with the ability to make adjustments during recording. I wish these cameras had a native headphone jack but hopefully this can be addressed with a hack over HDMI. I'd say you should use what you have.
