GH2 as deck type recorder? Need to transfer Mini DV tapes.

Hi all. I have some Hi-8, Digital-8, and Mini DV tapes I would like to digitize. I have a respective camera for each of them. I was wondering if I could output the old school footage into a GH2 (or I also have a Canon T3i) and then I could simply move the files onto my hard drive.

I know my other option is a capture card which I may consider. But going camera to camera sounds more intriguing (and easier?) to me.

Any thoughts/ideas?

These cameras don't have any sort of input, other than the lens. So unless you are talking about using the GH2 or T3i to actually videotape the monitor of the tape camcorder... I don't think it's going to do what you want.

Input on the T3i/Gh2? That's exactly what I was wondering Barry. Thanks for the answer. I wish there was! Seems like to complete my project I'll have to get a capture card that has RCA inputs. Or I could buy and RCA to HDMI then record the films manually on a deck or computer that has HDMI input capabilities.

I did further research after asking this question and found the best thing would be to purchase an older camera with firewire then manually capture, edit, and export the files to a hard drive. I heard I'll need 1 gb of space per hour of video not to mention the manual time it takes to play the video while capturing it, then trimming it up then exporting. Oh and Dazzle USB seems to be a decent option.
