GH2 GH2 arbitrarily changed from 1080/24P to 720/60P

I have been using the GH2 all day in 1080/24P manual mode. The only thing I have changed is the ISO and WB. I downloaded the last clips, and 1-18 were 1080/24P. Clip 19-50 something were suddenly 720/60P, then the last two clips were back to 1080/24P. I looked at them and converted them in Toast 10, and also imported them into FCP with the same results. The last ten or so clips were in a different location, different subject, and when I arrived I changed the ISO and the WB. The majority of these clips (the early clips) are 720/60P, then for the last two it recorded them in 1080/24P. I did not make any changes to the camera after the initial ISO and WB settings, yet as with the first series, the camera suddenly started changing formats again (which is how the camera is and has been set) after recording 90 percent of the clips in 720/60P.
Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone have any idea what is going on here?
Thanks!
Bill

Happened to me yesterday as well. My guess was that maybe I hit the record button instead of the shutter button but I have not had time to test it more...

Look at Page 105 in the Manual...
The center position is 24p...
The left is Manual Movie Mode and how you get to 720 60p.
The right setting is Variable.

I thought of that too, but cannot imagine I was hitting the record button that many times in a row. I'll try it this morning and post the results.

I use the center (24P) and the right (for slow motion) setting frequently. I looked at pages 105 and 106, but see nothing mentioning 720/60P there. Is this in your operating instructions book?

I find this camera frustrating at times because suddenly you have to search and search for an explanation. The other day I needed an ISO higher than 3200 - I have found how to get to this before, but I could not rediscover it in the short time I had available. I ended up mostly solving the issue by going to a 25th shutter speed, gaining the stop in speed ISO 6400 would have provided.

OK, I tried using the shutter and the record button in the center (24P) setting, and both at 1080. Then I changed to the left manual setting, and you are right, it recorded in 720/60P. Why would they do this??!!

If you think about it - it makes sense. They put the option of 1080 24p only in the CREATIVE MOVIE menu.
If you switch to MANUAL in the CREATIVE MOVIE menu then go to the MOTION PICTURE menu> REC MODE you will see three options:
1.) AVCHD (1080i)
2.) AVCHD (720p)
3.) MOTION JPEG

I guess Panasonic wanted to keep the 24p option separate from the 60i/60p options?

Yeah I shot more today and gpt all 24p. I think what happened is I hit the menu button by accident (I have large hands) and swapped it into Manual. Lesson learned.
