GH2 and HDMI Monitor - Please Help

I just received a lilliput hdmi monitor for my GH2. It's a new model and looks great. I wanted to use this to monitor as I shoot. But is this true...

When you plug in an HDMI cable into the GH2, you can not shoot at either 720/60p or 1080/24p? It looks like you can only shoot at 1080/601.

Can anyone conform this for me?

If this is true, why? And this means that is really impossible for me to use the monitor when shooting because I will never shoot at 1080/60i.

Are there any ways around this? With all these hdmi viewfinders coming out, will they basically be useless for the GH2 unless you shoot 60i?

I mean, I also wanted to be able to play back video to check audio when I capture audio on the camera but this is a big disappointment.

Also, is this something that might change in a firmware upgrade?

Thanks!

It looks like you lose access to 720p mode when you plug in the HDMI monitor. You also lose ETC mode.

You can use 1080/60i or 1080/24p with the monitor plugged in.

Its just the output to the monitor that gets affected. The camera displays 1080/60i out to the monitor, but will record in 1080/24p if thats what you've set in camera. I've shot this way, and can confirm this. I however can't speak in regards to 720p, as I haven't tried it. You do lose the ability to use the Extended crop mode though.

Bottom line: If you're shooting 1080/24p, and connect a monitor, you will still continue to shoot 1080/24p, regardless of what you're monitor is receiving as a source signal. So you're ok.

Thanks to all for the information. Yes, I just tried it, I am able to shoot 1080/24p with the monitor connected. It's too bad though that 720/60p is disabled.
