GH2 GH2 ACVHD conversion issues on mac...

Since I can't import 24p from GH2 into iMovie, I've been trying out various conversion software (cineform, voltaicHD, clipwrap, tanbee etc).

The issue I'm having is that the color and contrast varies noticeably between each software. Some make it super saturated while another software's color seems more accurate but really contrasty. To make things worse, the same footage using these softwares on a different mac (10.5.8) the conversions look different from the other mac running 10.6.6

Anyone know what could be wrong and how to fix this?

fyi:
Not sure if this is relevant but monitors on both macs are color calibrated with ColorEyes Display Pro for my still photography work.

Maybe it's the gamma settings and target format? I get best (=what I think I shot) results with the FCP's Log & Transfer. But if I start with 5DtoRGB and ProRes 4444 it changes "randomly" in each step AVCHD->MOV->FCP Export and H.264 conversion for web. I'm sure that can be fixed somehow, just don't know how.

I thought that clipwrap doesn't touch the original compressed h.264 file? Just rewraps it with a quicktime wrapper? Am I wrong?

My tests with my GH2 in 1080p mode and iMove imported fine. I guess the issue is you don't want to re-encode on import?

Here is a little test in 24p mode made with iMoive:

Am I giving up quality by just letting iMovie import as per normal (full quality is checked on the import pane)?

Sorry I guess I am missing the basic premise of the post. I don't have GH2 but I have had no issues with removing pull-down from my GH1 24p clips and importing them into iMovie. They show up as 1080p 23.976 fps and iMovie recognizes them fine in a 24 cinema timeline, if I try to import them into a 30fps project it gives the usual warnings, offers to convert, etc. Sorry I am probably missing something basic here but just curious.

The latest version of iMovie does accept 24p footage from the GH2, either from the camera or via a card reader.

There is no pull down in 24p. Also, get FCP and save yourself the trouble. Even FCP Express would do the trick. It's a pain in the ass to edit ANYTHING in iMovie.

The GH2 24p has no pulldown, but the GH1 is wrapped in 60i and has to have the pulldown removed for it to be a native 24p file. I made that reference to establish that once that processing is completed on (my GH1 video), then the file from the GH1 should be essentially the same as the GH2 native 24p file.

Final cut express does not do 24p. Final cut pro costs more than the GH2 and has a very steep learning curve. It is certainly a great software choice if the situation warrents it. iMovie '11 is a very capable update to this software.

Or CS5, from what I understand even FCP/QT often still has significant gamma issues that have gone unaddressed for many years.

That's because the issue resides in QT, which imovie, final cut express and FCP all use as their engine. CS5 using the MPE and therefore doesn't have the problem.

Note to other post: what he's talking about has nothing to do with pulldown.

Thanks for the suggestions and replies :) I had iMovie '09 and was trying to avoid having to get '11 but went ahead and got it. The color & contrast seems good but in some dark scenes, I'm seeing posterization that I didn't see in any of the conversions from other software.

I just finished putting together part 1 of my journey to India (my 2nd time) to photograph a wedding there. I'm a wedding photographer and only shoot video for personal use so please go really easy on me :cheesy:
