GH2 2.35 pic file

I was looking for the most accurate way to get 2.35 bars to mark the lcd on my GH2 to use as a bcam if i use my AF100 at 2.35. I found Justpassingthrupro's video but the file he gives didn't really work for me so then i found the FilmDogPro's HD Letterbox Template Pack (E. Hartford) and used it to make the GH2 picture file. I also started making the first couple files from the pack and plan on doing the whole pack one day in this way.

Instructions: Copy the picture into your SD card's "100_PANA folder"

BE SURE YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE A PICTURE WITH THE SAME FILE NAME. YOU MIGHT LOSE YOUR PICTURE.

Let me know if it works. I hope no one else already did this.

What does this do exactly besides give you something to look at in playback mode?
It lets you use something like gaff tape or a marker or something to draw guidelines on your LCD or monitor so that you can frame your video for 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Because if you don't have an anamorphic lens or adapter you'll have to crop the top and bottom of your video, you'll need to frame your subjects into that area.

Nothing, but you can use it to mark (with rubber bands or tape) the 2.35:1 mask, so that you have crop guidelines for shooting 16:9 with the intention of cropping later to 2.35:1

I believe someone found that 55 clicks up or down on the custom guide gives 2.35:1 with the top/bottom of the frame. You can then reframe for the center of the image.

Quick question

Hi there! Glad to see you are getting some use out of the template pack I created. I also realize this thread is years old by now but just a quick question... Where did you find this template pack? I created that letterbox template pack back in 2010 and it's called "HD Letterbox Template Pack", the creation of which has nothing to do with any person or entity called FilmDogPro.

The original post was at http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?224087-70-Free-HD-Letterbox-Templates

and v2 was posted in 2013 at http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...te-Pack-v2-(Now-75-Free-Letterbox-Templates!)

Well hello Rip Van Winkle.
Welcome back from Brigadoon!

Ummm... I don't know if you checked, but user 'thepage29' hasn't been active here for 2 1/2 years.

I just found a relatively recent reference to this "FilmDogPro" title on your templates at this blog site here:
http://vashivisuals.com/every-filmmaking-aspect-ratio-for-free/
Scroll down about 55% of the way to the end of the movie example pictures.

So the mystery is pretty deep indeed. But then, you're a little mysterious yourself.

I will say thank you however, because I got your v2 set from here back in 2013 and it's been great.

~Cheers!

No, I sure didn't. Thanks for pointing that out. I was hoping he had e-mail notifications turned on and this thread would be brought into his inbox and he'd check it out.

That is actually one of the original pages I found that triggered me to look into this deeper to see where this "Film Dog Pro" originated from. He has it listed on another one of the pages on his website as well here: http://vashivisuals.com/vashi-visuals-free-filmmaking-assets/

Kind of made me laugh as it's not even v2. =] I've tried reaching out to them to see if they would update the pack and also correct the title but no response.

I suppose you're right. My original studio site is dead, pretty much all of the original links for v1 are dead. However, e-mail the address toward the bottom in the "READ ME FIRST" text file of any of these "Film Dog Pro" template packs and I'll be happy to respond =]

My original post here on DVXUser pre-dates anything "Film Dog Pro" by a year from everything I've found so far. Upon further digging, i've found tutorials on YouTube where people refer to it as "Film Dog Pro's" (Not 100% sure if this is the "Film Dog Pro" guy himself but I think is where it might all originate from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlMI9q01LoE).

It just makes me feel uneasy as I spent quite a bit of time making the templates and researching relevant material that would be beneficial to the people who use them. Whoever this person is... We didn't have a partnership or any affiliation at all regarding this product and they seem to have just added their name to the title and claimed it as their own product... That I made for them (Which couldn't be further from the truth). The worst part of it all is that the tutorial(s) help a lot of people out and I'd feel awful trying to flag them down and have them removed from YouTube.

Happy to see you are finding use out of them!

Yup, been there, done that, had the same things happen where people were actually selling the information I created (not just compiled but created). Pretty well sucks!
