GH13 used for remote location production

****** SORRY GUYS, VIDEO IS NOW OFFLINE ***************

I recently shot a promo for a mining company, conditions were fairly difficult, but the GH13 was fabulous, for various shots & to save time we used 3 x GH13, 1 with 20mm, 1 with 14-140mm and 1 with 7-14mm..also had 45-200mm lens to change out if needed... we were able to mount the camera quite quickly which allowed for some different perspectives. Equipment must be minimum on these type of jobs due to small aircraft limitations so you have to make the best of every situation with what you have..
The small footprint of the GH13 allowed me to take 3 cameras plus lenses in a smaller case than a conventional HM700 or similar..
I will leave up for a week or so, please feel free to comment or ask questions..
cheers.

excellent! what a great place to get to film! i hope you sneaked some extra footage for a madmax like short

the music made me feel a little jumpy tho, its quite dramatic/espionage like.
id have dropped a bit of good old warm soul music over it  to match the friendly feel of the visuals, and the workers all looked pretty happy.

most of the mine sites here are fairly remote, self contained villages in the middle of semi desert country, lots of red dust and flies..
This is definately MadMax country...

very good- hung in for the whole thing..like the gfx- worked well

what settings did you use? was that 720p60 for the overcrank?

Now what program did you use to edit this? Also were those self made templates made from scratch on after effects or was it bought templates. If they were bought Id like to know where. Thanks

Thanks alot for the wonderful comments, much apreciated..
One thing I was trying to show also in this video is how powerful the GH13 camera is, even with stock lenses. The 7-14mm is a must have, the 20mm is amazing, the kit lens is ok as a quick zoom and shoot. The 14mm will be a must have lens also..
The video was edited in FCP, the templates for this were some old Digital Juice backdrops uprezzed to 720P, I compiled scenes in Motion as you can play in real time..

cheers.

Man....I'm lovin this piece. The scenery was nice...and the cam picked up every detail. I can't believe this was shot 720p. Wow.

I liked the music...it gave it a dramatic film like feel. That and the slow motion helped everything look bigger than life. PLus...some of those wide shots.....nice.

funny thing, I shoot everything in 720P, 1080P has no advantage in the real world i work in, just sucks up data space...I have done many tests shooting the two specs and no one has ever picked the difference in our edit room, I think people get rapped up in the numbers and don't understand the physics of the human eye and how in a normal room with 40"Samsung LED screen you will not spot the difference, especially if your end product id destined for WEB or DVD....
I know I will get a lot of response on this but you can see the results in my videos, 1080P would have made no difference on this shoot, just used more space....

cheers

Thats what I say as well, 720 is great on this camera, and for commercials everyone here is SD so it is unneeded and clients dont ask for it .

GH13 's strength for me is its 720p 60p you can make it 24p or and if you want super smooth high bitrate lower the gop to 3-5 .
I shot a rehersal of 2 people singing last week and when I put it up on 10ft screen the projector every one loved it ..very clean .. kind of approaching what the hi bitrate mjpeg was like but without the noise...

Thats why I am excited to see what GH2 can do for a low light and no FPN ....The 2 thing I need for fast stuff are level meters and HdmI monitoring ...

But its great because all this stuff is so cheap you can afford to do 4 camera shoot in HD for the price of a single af100 and do a 4 stream edit.

Man have we come aloooong wa in 10 yrs...
