gh13 ISO3200 am i a moron or what?

I know but till know i thought that iso above 400-640(noise related) is a big NO NO and that creative movie mode is the best mode for video?

So you think it looks OK, yes? Most people think that iso 1600 is already fairly poor, and 3200 is a bit horrible.

How are you getting 3200 on video mode? I thought it only went up to iso 1600?

ISO 2500 and 3200 are grayed-out in the menu. How do I achieve abrighter picture without paying for a new lens?
When Panasonic were designing the GH1, the software was completed with a prototype of the final hardware. When Panasonic completed the final image sensor and sent it for the manufacturing plants they found it performed far greater than expected. In Creative Movie Mode, however the ISO speed is limited to a maximum of ISO 1600 whilst shooting videos. Here is how to get around this limitation...In Creative Movie Mode, set your camera to full manual control in the menu (press the menu button, and choose 'M' on the first video shooting option screen). Set the aperture to its lowest value, for example F4 with the GH1's kit lens. Now set ISO to 1600 and the shutter speed to 1/30, which is the lowest possible value for smooth video output.
(Side note: you will find that in the still image modes, ISO 3200 is selectable as normal but when a video recording begins with the red button, the ISO selection on screen turns to say ‘AUTO’. This is not how to enable ISO 3200 for video recordings.)
The secret it to turn the dial to S mode (shutter priority). The shutter will show '30', which is the lowest possible for smooth video output. The ISO will still be stuck at ISO 1600, but if you use the wheel to adjust the exposure compensation all the way to maximum (+ 2EV) ISO 3200 is activated (it kicks in a few moments after pressing record, boosting sensitivity to light). The exposure compensation is shown at the bottom of the LCD by a dotted line with blocks that build to the left or right. You may have to press the wheel inwards to highlight the exposure compensation meter in yellow, before being able to adjust it by turning the wheel. I have a professional or semi professional video camera.

It seems that most GH1's suffer from a noticeable case of banding as soon as the ISO creeps above 800.

Oddly enough, some lucky owners have banding free GH1's

I wonder if this means the GH2 can do 6400 ISO boosting to +2 EV? Has anyone with a GH2 checked? Al

I was only kidding with you :) It's good to see some excitment about the camera your shooting with.

when you say banding you mean fixedNoisePatern not colorBanding wright?I have ugly FNP on low light but only in movie creative mode in pictures mode(M,S,A) I have very usable video and high Iso.I think it is interpolated scaling down from full sensor to HD that is fixing FNP,and i am guessing in creative movie mode rendering of video is handled in diferent way.
