GH1 with the Panasonic LA7200 - Wow - wide!

I was wondering if the LA7200 really made that big of a difference in framing. Kit lens at 18mm just past vignette.

I was shocked when I rendered this quick test out. Pardon the dark, grainy, underexposed shot.

It seems to be adding almost 2' to either side of the viewable image within my frame, simply amazing.

I plan to shoot mountain biking videos and this would certainly give me a reason to use this lens. I would be capturing that much more in frame every time someone passed by. Nearly 2' more of the rider on the entering screen left and 2' more passing through out the right side.

Amazing.

It's equivalent to having a .67x wide-angle adapter. The anamorphic squeezes a 33% wider field of view onto the chip. It doesn't affect the vertical dimension, but on the horizontal it's like a .67x wide-angle, so your 18mm ends up being more like a 12mm.

The LA7200 also works particularly well with the 20mm 1.7 pancake Lumix...no vignetting to worry about and it's better than the kit lens in low light.
