GH1 with 13 hack for Avid

Hi I am a new user of both the forum and possibly a GH1 (hacked version)

I have a couple of questions in regards to the camera and the best codec to use for cinema type (short ) shots.

1.) Is the camera capable of shooting at 50 fps, 48fps, 30fps, as well as slower shutter speeds?
I read somewhere they were available with a Panasonic firmware update version.

2.) Best to shoot in mjpeg for Avid 23.976 1920 X 1080 ingest and editing workflow?
I would like to import 24p and edit with dnxhd 36 for off line ...then batch import to full res after completed edit.

Thanks
RJ

As far as I know it can shoot (while in 1080p) 1/30, 1/40, 1/50, 1/60 etc...

I am not sure I understand the 2nd question...

Thanks mojo43
The second question is basically my attempt to find an effective workflow for Avid....
I want to ingest the files as 23.976 with a lower res dnxhd codec....
Not familiar with the camera and I am trying to decide if it is possible to work in a current system with out many added plugins and softwares.

Running on mac and do not want to use FCP if possible.

Ok, well I am not sure of the answer as I do not use avid, but I do know that if you are shooting 1080p then you will have to remove pulldown. There is however a free way to do this or you can use cineform...

The cineform looks nice enough...
Just one last question mojo43.

If I am shooting 1080p there is no de-interlacing with the avchd files correct?

Theoretically Could I load them to a folder on my desktop/ convert them to another directory as pr 422hq .mov files?
Once they have the pull down removed and are output as pr422hq.mov....this should be all I would need to import them as dnxhd into Avid...( i think...lol)

Avid only works with its own dnxhd codecs which are basically cineform copies.
In MC 5 I do have the option to work wit QT but we are using an older version for field import and timeline.

So if i just open the avchd files from the camera in Neoscene....then optput with the pulldown removed and corrected these files are good to go for editing...no more interlaced fields?

Also is there a benefit to using/ shooting in Mjpeg mode

Thanks for your time and help
much appreciated

That's right...

For the MJPEG, check out the past postings on this matter. There is no benefit for me, but that is just me... Too bad you aren't using a PC. You could convert pulldown for free.

I just seem to have imported pulldown removal with Neo Scene outted as CF422 in to Avid....looks smooth as silk...
If I can get a decent workflow with these programs I AM switching to windows....
Trying to escape the Apple BS at this moment.
And I think I just did.
Thanks for your help!!!
