GH1 Video: Vintage Car Shop

Very nice. 1080p is excellent on the GH1 if handled properly. I think there is room for some nice CC in the original version that will make it pop more. I liked the funky version too.

@John: In response to your comment on Vimeo, yes the exposure changes as he zooms in on to the car, although it's not the ustein's fault

Thanks for showing. Just a couple of things that I noticed, and just my opinion. your edits seem a bit off in both time and in your cut in point. Y ou cut in before the action starts and it doesn't flow like that. The other part is that some of your edit points don't work with the music... but that also might be the music you used. Was this a set of loops or royalty free stuff? kind of a bit repetitive and harsh on the ears...

just my .03 cents.

I know it does but basically he shouldn't be using the zoom. The lens looses aperture as it zooms in like most lenses. Overall, the piece looks pretty nice.

That is beyond my scope right now. I am a photographer (hope one sees). I love music but don't think I will ever be able to edit on a beat. But of course you are right.

I use now FCP for 5 days and make videos with Combo Cams for 3 weeks :-)

Comes with Final Cut Pro.

Gewt me right, your comments are very welcome.

Likely also my conclusion.

Your doing great and over time this will all become second nature to you. Think of beat as happening actually slighly ahead of where you perceive it to be... it should hit around the first frame of the new piece of video.

one of the early tricks that I learned and it's easy to do in FCP. When you are listening to your music in real time on the sequence hit the marker button M key at each exact point you hear and anticipate a new beat. Then when you go back to edit you have a roug idea of where your beats need to be. This will also give you an idea for lenght of shots that you might need and helps to structure your edit... Might be something to try.

Keep on shooting and cutting.... an editor is defined by his/her quality and by their speed. Getting fast is certainly a part of it as it allows you to grow and tackle large jobs and in turn accomplish more in the same period of time.

Cheers.
