GH1 to FCP via Compressor deinterlace issue

I think I've followed all of the instructions generously provided by Hot Rod Cameras to convert GH1 clips for use in a 24fps FCP (6.0.6) timeline, but I'm seeing, from frame to frame, a weird stretching of an actor's face in CU.

Seems like a deinterlace issue, where lines are getting interpreted inconsistently.

I've been trying different variations on this transcoding method for the last day or so, reading manuals, researching online, and I'm about to go nuts, so I'd really appreciate any help.

I looked at the clips in the camera's LCD, and the distortion is there, so this shouldn't have been posted in "Workflow," evidently. (Am I the only one who's noticed this? Is this frame by frame inconsistency a fact of life for interlaced images?)
