GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

This sucks. ;-( I have a preorder at Abel Cine and J&R. I really don't want to pay the extra $200 at Panasonic and have no gaurentee of when it will come, but I was really hoping to have it for my brother-in-law's wedding on the 30th. Panasonic needs to hurry up and get some of those cameras to retailers.
 
man i called panasonic again today about people who ordered on monday and already got theres shipped out... well the lady who got my call was nicer than the last two. she said she didnt know when they were shipping for me and told me shed call me back. about 30 min later i got a call from her and she told me that it would be shipping between today... and tuesday... WHATTT i mean thats such a big margin of time. well i know that this is way earlier than i expected since the website says backordered till september but since others were already shipped why couldnt mine be. i ordered on monday too.... XD sorry just had to vent

I ordered from Panansonic Direct yesterday. Got the standard call from Olga today. She said it should be shipping within 2 days. If it works, I guess I don't mind paying tax.

The camera and battery I ordered from Panasonic Direct on 8/12 came in last night. I am pleased as punch, and hopeful for those of you who are still waiting.

I can certainly second the posters who've said good things about Olga at PD, she was very helpful and easy to work with.

Lol Steve Dave this is great news! Shipping between today and Tuesday? People earlier got told between June 29th and September 31st!
 
Thanks ajamils... I placed my order with J&R and got a $180 (12%) Bing cashback. It took a couple of days for Bing to record the purchase. I have time on my side to wait for J&R to forfill the order. J&R also offers free shipping and no sales tax in my state.
 
J&R credit department left a voicemail this morning. When I called back they said they just wanted to confirm, but that the credit card hasn't been charged, yet when I check my available balance on the card it is definately short around $1500. I guess they were checking if funds were available.

They transfered me over to customer service and I added a battery, 2 16gb cards, and a card reader. I told them that Panasonic direct was already shipping cameras, and they told me 7-10 days before theirs ship, but that it's confirmed.
 
The bing cashback thing has me lost. I made an account with them but I don't see anything in my recent activity. Do I need to have had clicked thru a bing search result before making the order? If so I guess I screwed up.

ya, you have to search for the item at Bing.com and then click on the cash back icon (which will redirect you to the website) and that's how it registers your purchase.
 
just wondering would they get mad that i called them 3 times in the last two days because i feel like calling them a 4th time just to know if it has been shipped. the reason i want to know is since they never seem to ever notify me through email on my purchase and shipping status ive been thinking that their messaging system is buggy. but i dont want to piss them off

I think you'll be fine if they're saying it has already shipped or is going to.
