did you call to find out about your camera and its shipping date or did they send you and email first and then you called? just wondering
 
wooow i just called panasonic because i had a problem with the order. i never received a confirmation of my order through email and it isnt in my order history on panny direct. they said it was ok and that my order was made but arent sure when my camera will be shipped due to the back order. i called a while back too and another representative said the same thing. omg why do some people get all the luck -.- wish my gh1 was sent today

Its REAL !!!!!! Just got an email from Panasonic Direct confirming the shipment of my GH1. Should arrive in couple of days........ YAY !!!

i think the more you call the sooner you get it. they have a log of every time that you call. more than once a day might cause you to get it later than sooner though

You theory get null and void because I never called and still my camera was shipped within 24 hours of me ordering it :)

Ok, here is an update that might be worth a few cents. I got a call back from panasonic today to confirm my order from yesterday. The lady I talked to was very nice and knew what she was talking about. I mentioned that I heard of some people ordering on Monday and cameras shipping out, she confirmed this. She told me that she expected my order, from Tuesday, to ship out Friday. Due to some glitch in there system she was unable to confirm a shipping date, but did expect it to be shipped Friday.

When I was talking to her she commented that I seemed pretty relaxed about the whole operation, and that she has had people calling her and screaming her ear off about orders and such. Jeez, I certainly hope that's no one from this forum. I told her that's probably a good problem for panasonic to have ;]

At any rate, its still a bit of a crapshoot, but my bet would be placing an order with panasonic now, keep your phone handy for the confirmation call. And then try to fill up your time with something else besides anxiety about getting the camera.

Well, maybe Panny Direct's finally getting their act together. Good for them.

Previously their customer service only seemed to have two speeds: bland indifference or misinformation/lying, so I'm not surprised people blew up at them. Let's hope that now they have a better appreciation of the correlation between frustrated customers who scream at them and crappy customer service.

mannn i wish i got connected to her... the two people that ive ever talked to sounded like they didnt care about my questions and they tried to end the calls as fast as possible eh since i ordered on monday night this means that there is a possibility that my gh1 will ship on thursday and if it does that means i get it on saturday with the 2 day shipping XD at least i think that they ship on saturdays...

ps wth i ordered monday and mine didnt get shipped out least they didnt tell me it did.... i never got any confirmation emails on my purchase so maybe their email service thingy is messed up caused i called yesterday and they confirmed my order...

I think I talked to the same lady. She was really polite and knew about all the whole GH1 stock issue. I think her name was Olga.

I think that's where the difference is, when you call compared to when they call. Both me and rawdod got a call from Panasonic and that's why we not only got a nice lady but they also shipped the camera (or shipping it soon).

Yup, I ordered the GH1 on Monday night, got a call from PD next morning because there was an issue with my zip code (their system did not have the updated zip code for my area) and then they lady said...."I'll see if I can get your order prioritized" (without me even saying anything) and then she said.....

"I'll talk with my manager and see what I can do. Would you like me to call you back and let you know if I can get the cam shipped today ?"

I said...."sure". Half an hour later..........she called again to confirm that the cam will be shipping in the afternoon. :grin:


All in all, from the time I ordered to the time it was shipped out was less than 24 hours.
