GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

Heads up guys: I checked my order and it said:

Please accept our apologies for the delay. We need more information to process your order. Please call our customer service department toll-free at 1-800-955-9091 or e-mail service@crutchfield.com.

So you want to call customer service, and in my case, they just had to call my phone number on the order (my cell phone), and they processed the order.

Chatted with a sales guy at Crutchfield. Said they still had some. Sure enough, product page he linked to said "in stock." I got excited, grabbed my credit card and rushed to get the order placed only to have a message saying "temporarily unavailable, will ship later" show up on my confirmation.

I called to see what was up and, sure enough, they were out of stock, so I cancelled the order.

Oh, well...

What system and OS are you using?

WinXPsp3. It starts to do the convert. Converts a few seconds of footage and then the log shows an EC_ERRORABORT 0x8007045d. There is a file produced and it looks ok but is usually at most a few seconds of footage. I sent them a trouble ticket but I'm not sure how much support they offer for trial customers. Their knowledge base is kind of lacking in info. I like the idea of their product but it needs to work for me. I'm sure in some way it's my fault though. I have a ton of video/media software on this machine(including things I've written/developed). Sorting out codec/media player issues isn't uncommon. I'm sure if I dug into it I'd find that some bizzaro variant of ffdshow I have, along with some wacky Nero codec handler interact with Neoscene's rather large pile of media handlers and extensions badly. Just not sure I want to waste that kind of time and energy on a product I have to buy.

Thank you for the crutchfield hook up! I gotz two baby!! Finnnaaalllyyy!!

Talked to Sam and he said they sold out in under three hours!! Now that crutchfield has 'em cameras are coming guys just hold on!!

Called my local Panasonic dealer in Tulsa who reps pro cameras to see if he could get me one. But he was told Panny will only ship these out to dealers who order 50+ cameras at a time.

It was worth a try!

Interesting. Sounds about like what Crutchfield had on hand maybe? There is bound to be other stores like Crutchfield that didn't post their cameras on their site so there were no pre-orders. That is what I was hoping for and it landed for me today so just keep an eye out.

Awww man, when I see that people didn't get one, it makes me feel bad that I did! Still, I'll do anything I can to help a fellow DVX-er out. I have 2 "no down-payment pre-orders" with 2 small (but reputable!) camera stores on the east coast. I plan to keep those, and when they call to tell me the cameras are in stock, I'll post the info here.

So, what's stopping them from ordering? Assuming they actually receive product from Panasonic, they could turn that amount (or more) around in a couple of hours if the Crutchfield scenario is any indication.

Either they don't appreciate the degree of demand or maybe they're worried that by the time they're serviced there'll be an abundant supply and they'll be stuck with excess inventory.

So cool that more folks on this forum were finally able to get cameras through this latest crutchfield availability. I'm sorry I missed it by a few minutes earlier today.

I'm still waiting for my 6/22 Panasonic Direct order. "Mid August" as we have heard.
How many out there are still waiting from Panasonic Direct?

No offense but 6/22 you should still be waiting :P I didn't get my 6/4 until second week of July...and I ended up getting it from another place anyway, canceling my 6/4....I'm just hoping all the Early June people have gotten theirs!

Yeah! J and R, right? B and H gets, Adorama gets. My retailer is getting 20 or 30 from the J and R order because in their experience, JR is on par with B and H's first shipment time... At least by the tie it shows it'll feel like a free present!

do you guys think that ordering from b&h now would get me my camera by late august or early september or will it probably have a long line of back ordered people. man i want this camera badly but i want it from somewhere legit and trustworthy. i sent them an email a few days ago asking when they were gonna start restocking on gh1's and they never replied. theyre probably getting mad about people like me who keep asking questions lol.
