GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

Did he say when he will ship? I was the first one to order but no sign of shipping notice from him yet.

Hi again. I left this string about 3 weeks ago resigning to buy a temporary camera until the GH1 comes out. Thankfully my GH1 is in the mail on the way to me from Canada from two great guys who made it happen.
But... I want to weigh in on time2envy. I bought the temporary camera from them, a Sanyo HD2000, great little cam, shoots in 60p. No one else has them yet: Adorama, BH etc. But somehow they did. So they sent it and I opened it and inside was a warranty card but not a manufacturer one. It did not have any real markings but phone number which seemed like it went back to time2envy or something.
But it was a Sanyo HD2000 and was new, but it also had the European cord in there along with the US plug and the box was not sealed. But it was a 60i 60p model.
So I was fine with it. I called them and they say the register the warranty with Sanyo so I just forgot about it.
But they do not have a return policy. You have 7 days to return it but only for exchange, not refund.
So you better want to keep it or sell it on ebay.
Truthfully if you can wait you probably should since its a little strange. They do give you a camera that appears new and appears to have warranty but I think in my case it worked since the HD2000 has 60i 60p and a way to switch it to PAL. Its sort of made for everywhere. I suppose they imported it but it had English markings everywhere.
My 2 cents. I actually just sold it on ebay and waiting for "my precious" the GH1!

It's funny that Panasonic is saying mid Aug. It's the same story they were pushing when I ordered on June 22, "next shipment is July 15th". And we all know how well that went. While I'm sure I'm going to regret it, I canceled my June 22 order, since I ordered one of the one's Nathan is selling. So someone may have even moved up on the list!
I haven't exchanged any additional email with Nathan though, I wonder if I should? Grey market I have no problem with, as long as it is NTSC. I also know that extra battery isn't going to work, but even that doesn't bother me. Though I'll admit I'm curious how exactly the camera knows the battery is a Panasonic. Might be worth trying to hack.
I hope the remaining June 22 people get their cameras soon. Mid Aug is absurd. These things aren't hand made by monks in Italy.

Just jumped into the pool with you guys. For a camera they're pushing on the front page of their website, they sure are in a pretty bad spot. I ordered PD today since I don't NEED the cam until october. I wonder if they're waiting on shipment till they have a projected surplus so that they could fill all orders... Cams can't take THAT long to make, I wonder what the deal is.

let us know if/when you receive shipping confirmation. it's all supposed to go out today...
well it's 11:30am in east coast. no confirmation yet. i don't want to bug him too much and piss him off. i'll just let him do his job, if it takes until Monday i'm fine as long as the camera is not PAL or any other scam.

I'm telling you peeps... they are same people from dbuys.com and ibuydigital.com - Sure hope it works out for your people. I'm still waiting on my charge to be dropped from them. I acted right away after finding out about them and I got my credit union waiting to pounce if they don't release the hold. Good luck.
Yes time2envy is the same as broadway photo and ibuydigital. but the other ebay that most of here bought is not from the same. Hopefully not the case. we'll see when we get the cameras.
btw, if you read all the reviews from time2envy, lots of people mention missing warranty card and cameras came in open box, some even in bags instead of original carton box. Definitely shady merchant, they're selling returned cameras from manufacturer. Ever imagine what happens to return items from brick and motar stores like best buy, Amazon? They go to this guy.

well i wasn't fine with it so i just called him to confirm that it will ship out today. his response was "it's probably already been shipped. you'll receive confirmation sometime later today." so we wait.............
yep so we wait for tracking number and the box. are you anywhere close to Brooklyn? I'm in CA. You might get the camera earlier than me.

Hi, everyone - just got my PayPal generated tracking number from Nathan/masonjersey. I paid extra for 2-day shipping so hopefully on Tuesday I will have an NTSC GH1 in hand.

Yeah, those high quality "extras" weigh a lot.
Got my tracking number as well. UPS 3-day select. So far so good. Nathan has fulfilled on all of his assurances. I'm in WA so I assume we should both receive on the same day.
that big carrying bag and tripod should weigh a few pounds. unless he sent us rocks.
what i like so far. he kept his promise and ship it by today. a man of his words, hopefully his USA/NTSC assurance will be true as well.
