No kidding! The most random release ever... You'd think it was simple. Every order placed no matter where it's origin has a date associated with it... FFS Line them up and send them out.

Panny distro: naw. lets just smoke some crack and see what happens.

Not to mention all of us that pre-ordered on amazon in may only to have our delivery date bumped to July. :(
 
Anyone else think the release of the GH1 review at DPreview was timed with when stock would be available in the U.S.? I wouldn't be surprised if Panasonic asked DPreview to hold off on the review since it was so positive because they couldn't provide stock on the GH1. That plus today's short stint of GH1 sales at B&H and the JR rumored batch next week might indicate that the U.S. is expecting a big shipment soon. One can only hope.

I just called Henry's to check on why I didn't get an email. She happened to mention the DP review and said that they have received more calls since the review ran.

This is a hot item indeed.

maybe today is the official release date instead of June. A few release here and there last month was just testing the water to see the demand.
 
Well this is very interesting...... Just checked my credit card statement and look what transaction got approved last night...... I ordered it on June 15th.

The status on the website hasn't updated, but they do claim that they will not charge your card until your item is shipped.

Guys, here's how some inventory systems work.

1. Dealer places an order for 200 cameras. There's a PO# with that order.

2. Dealer receives a shipment for that PO, but there's 20 cameras.

3. Inventory person enters that an order is received for said PO#.

4. The inventory system will show the PO was received, and very likely initially count all 200.

5. The inventory person then needs to update the order to show exactly how many were received and how many are still on backorder.

Depending on their inventory system, this could involve manually typing in serial numbers for each item as well. Therefore, for a brief period of time the system could show all 200 in stock, when in fact there's not.

This is possibly what happened with B&H. Someone just happened to get a glimpse of the incorrect inventory levels during that moment. This would explain Kholi's statement that he was told they didn't really get anywhere near 200.

Also, it seems they're starting to trickle into multiple dealers as Nowintstock.com shows some activity for J&R. I preordered from J&R 2 weeks ago. I don't know where I am in line, but if they have 70 preorders and I haven't received any shipping or availability notification they may have gotten less than 70. It could be that each dealer got 50 and B&H had less that 50 preorders or wasn't taking preorders.

Whoever just got their order in at B&H and a confirmation, I recommend not canceling anything until you get a tracking #. Sometimes there's glitches in these systems. They may have allocated a camera to you during their inventory update and it could be that they actually don't have it. This would explain people with Panasonic Direct and Shopatron orders being told their cameras are shipping and getting charged when the cameras weren't actually available.

When did you place your order?

I just checked my credit card and no activity, but sometimes in takes WF a little longer maybe. I gotta ask, what bank do you use that shows "Approved"? I like that.

Right, also, i used my wells fargo financial bank card. It first appears under pending transactions, for about a day.

Now in stock shows activity this morning on the GH1

but still listed as pre-order.

I also ordered a few memory cards from JR this morning and they show in my pending list as approved as well. And when i talked to a costomer service rep earler today she told me that the memory cards had already shipped. When I asked about the camera, she kind of fumbled around and said it's scheduled to come in on the 15th. Maybe I should call again and ask about the charge.
 
here is a screen cap of my whole pending order list, since it seems like Mike may be inferring that my screen cap is a photoshop job. Haha. I just double checked my order date as well, sorry i actually ordered on the 23rd. not the 15th. It just seems like it's been that long i guess.

You ordered the same day I did! I just did it through PanIdiots Direct! No Camera- However I paid for the tax to our Dipshi*t Governors office thinking that my 23rd in stock order would deliver.

Wooo Hooo!
 
Harumph -- I have the B&H page set as the start page in my browser. I work in web, so I open my browser like 100 times a day. See the connection? It's my birthday today and I took the day off work. So what happens? B&H gets a few in stock.

Oh well, whadda do?

My shady reseller that I ordered though, ibuydigital, I called on Tuesday and they said "24-48 hours" I called today (More than 48 hours) and she said "We're expecting a shipment in today. It will ship out today." No notification email from them, and their CS department is closed now for the weekend. Guess we'll see.
