Yeah, I agree that's pretty messed up. My guess is that they either found a few cameras sitting in the warehouse or they got a trickle of just a few before they expected. Since the existing orders had already been linked to the bigger 6/22 delivery, rather than do the right thing and pull a few old orders and change them, they just did the "lazy" thing and left those alone and sold the handful on the web page as "in stock" to get them sold. Of course, that's nothing but a WAG on my part but it's the reason I never pre-order. You never know who's going to get them first so I just dilligently check online stock status many times a day and jump on the first one that says "in stock". Usually pays off. I do feel bad for those of you who placed your order a month ago but I've been wearing out the keys on my keyboard for about 3 months looking for a GH1 so I don't feel too bad. ;) I'll keep looking for you guys though and will post here if I find anything.

Just spoke with with Panasonic, They stated that a delivery date is not available but to call back Monday as it will be available by then and I should have the camera by next week.

I placed my order on the 6/12 (I'll wait for the tracking number)
 
Well guess what just arrived? :2vrolijk_08: From the time I placed my order to the time it showed up on my doorstep: 38.5 hours. Guess it pays to keep refreshing all the GH1 sales pages after all. Hope you all get yours by mid week but I guess that hour that the Panasonic page showed "in stock" Wednesday evening was for real.

great looks like orders are being filled. If only amazon shipped theirs a little quicker. I have been on a pre-order list with Amazon sine May and looks like I will receive mine quicker form Panasonic-Direct (order placed in June)
 
I Placed my Amazon order May 5th and last time I wrote all they told me was 1-2 months. Today I wrote in again and there is more specific info after the standard reply.

I know I'm mad late. but i'm going to order the GH1. Anybody suggest best bet to get it the soonest (is that a word?)

a no no from amazon?

Panasonic Direct. I happened to check at the right time and hit a short (1 hour) window when they had a few in stock. Best bet might be to keep refreshing the Panasonic order page for the GH1 and watch for the status to change. Also, I suspect Adorama might be the first third party vendor (outside of Panasonic) to have a batch. But that's just my gut feeling.

FYI, Panny's online shop is wonky. I ordered mine on the 23rd of May and never got any update as to when I was going to receive it. Spoke to several customer reps and even someone higher up the chain, and no one had any clue of what was going on. Was told I'd they'd look into and be emailed back, never got anything.

To this day, there's no status of when it's suppose to ship, so I canceled my order because I decided to snag one from Canada(only place that had them in stock). Never ever, I will deal with Panny's online store.
 
Panasonic Direct says 8-10 day shipping but i think that's just a template answer. where does it say that they have quantities available?

did you guys buy anything with it?

Ordered June 5th from Panasonic Direct and got email that it shipped UPS Next Day Air at 7:35 PM today. I called today to get an order status and they told me it would ship on the 23rd...

It will be living at Abel NYC starting Tues/Wed until our shipment comes in if anyone wants to check it out.

say what? september? thats completely false. anyone tried calling again to get a non-retarded answer from the person at panasonic?

seriously what did you say in response to that? "you're really trying to tell me that you as a company will be sending NONE of these cameras to ANYONE until SEPTEMBER? really? september?"

but what i'm really interested in is wether or not the shipment actually got held up in customs and if this is going to delay the 22nd shipment. meanwhile I just love watching people who ordered WEEKS after me getting their cams before me. its awesome.
