How screwy is their system, changed back to ships in 7-10 days right in front of my eyes. Was going to place a 2nd order just to be sure I got it one day..
GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

I was on the Panny site about 45 minutes before wowubbzy and it said "In Stock" so I placed my order. I got an order receipt via email and that order receipt says "In Stock" for shipping status. So hopefully I hit it at just the right time but I'll only be confident that I'm getting it when I see a UPS tracking number. Looks like it only said "In Stock" for maybe an hour.

I had the GH1 and an extra battery in my cart, I went back and forth contemplating if I should go ahead with a second order. The whole time it said "in stock". Then when I decided I went to checkout. At first it combined shipping charge for both. Then I was messing to see how much more for 2nd day or next day. It got screwed up and charged me separate shipping for both even via ground shipping.
I logged off and logged back on and it went back to ships in 7-10 days. Their ordering system is not very confidence inspiring, to say the least.
Mike, don't get your hopes too high. Just want to save your some disappointment.

No worries here. I'm not getting my hopes up until I see a UPS tracking number. I did start about 8:30pm eastern time and had checked out by 8:45. Out of curiosity I checked the page again a little after 9pm and it still said "In stock" even after I forced a refresh of the page. That's how I know it was showing in stock for at least 40 to 45 minutes.
Hard to imagine a glitch would change the stock status from 7-10 days to "in stock" and back to 7-10 days in just an hour unless they really had some stock. Wonder where they ship from? If it's from the west coast maybe 5:30pm seems like a reasonable time to update the stock status. Who knows. Maybe I'll find out more today since if it was really in stock, I should be getting a UPS tracking number soon. Would sure make a nice Father's Day gift to myself.

Hey Guys, I didn't check to see if any of you yet reported this but it looks like Amazon is now shipping GH1's. I just got an email saying it shipped last night (6/17) via UPS and will arrive tomorrow (6/19). I placed my order I think on the first or second day that was made available on their site which I believe was May 6. I also placed an order on J & R on 5/5 as well as Panny Direct on 6/4. But so far still no idea when either of those will ship.

Bad news....I spoke directly to a rep from the research dept regarding orders, a woman named Sarah, and she is now telling me that there will be no orders going out until August. I made mention of the website saying shipping in 7-10 days and she said unfortunately, that's incorrect.
I also found out that apparently when a retailer puts an order for cameras, web orders through Panasonic are pushed back. wtf? Doesn't make sense, right? I asked her and she said the same thing, but that's what apparently happens.
My order was placed on the 23rd of May, so I have no clue what's going on here. Keep in mind this isn't a rep through the 1800 number where people can track their orders. I was forwarded to Sarah through customer service because they originally didn't have information and still don't have information.
Long story short, she doesn't understand what's going and is going shoot out an email to someone above her and get more info. She said she'd email me back with info.

It sure would be pretty lousy of Panasonic to ship units to people that just logged on (or retailers just filing an order) as opposed to filling orders previously placed.

First off, I am located in Chicago. The sequence of events went like this:

6/15 -- Debit Card was charged
6/18 -- Delivery attempt by UPS was made (UPS InfoNotice stated package from Panasonic)
6/19 -- Second delivery attempt will be made (I will be there for this one
I certainly do not mean to post this to anger anyone else, I'm just saying, Panasonic doesn't know what they are talking about.

sarah tells me a completely different story every time i talk to her. has your card been charged yet orchid? my card was charged last week and they told me my camera is shipping out on the 22nd. if my cam does not ship on the 22nd and their POLICY STATES that your card will not be charged until your item is about to ship, there will be hell to pay.

YOU ORDERED IN JUNE AND YOUR'S ALREADY SHIPPED?! what the hell man! i'm may 27th, ive been charged and still no shipment. did they give you a UPS tracking number? or was the UPS notice on your door the first sign that it had been shipped?

Yes the notice on the door was the first sign that it was shipped. Never received tracking number or confirmation email that it was shipped.
I figured that I might not hear anything given all the reports I've heard on here about Panasonic's communication.
I wish Panasonic was able to handle their shipping correctly so that everyone gets their cameras in the order that their pre-order was received. But like I said above, don't take their word for when you receive it. For all you know it may show up at your door today or tomorrow.

since my card was UNCHARGED, i'm guessing i'm not getting my camera anytime soon, would you be willing to send me yours and I will pay you PLUS and extra $150? i am in desperate need of this camera ASAP.

Paul, fortunately my card has not been charged yet. Tex, I'm glad to hear that your camera is on the way. I just wish I was in the same scenario. Honestly, I'm to a point where I'm ready to cancel and just try to find it locally when it becomes available.

ok just got off the phone with the (as usual) useless Panny direct. they said that for charging, they place a hold, to see if the amount is available, then they release the funds, then when they ship it, they charge you. now the guy on the phone says mine will ship out on the 22nd. because that's when the cam becomes "available." i asked him is it possible that the cam might not become available? and he said YES. i asked him how two people that ordered after me have their cameras, he said he has no idea as it hasn't been available at all. this is ridiculous.

just talked to Sarah at Panny again. i aksed HER how two folks that ordered after me got their cameras already. she had no idea. i asked her to gaurantee mine would ship out on the 22nd. all she could say is thats what the computer says. basically, i think everyone at panasonic is only saying whatever their computer says. if i was holding a cam in my hands right now, and their computer said it hadn't shipped, they would believe the computer. and their computer system is ALL SCREWED UP.

My order status still shows "in stock" from the order I placed last night so I called the 800 number. I told them I wanted to make sure my camera was going to ship today. She said, "Yes, it should be shipping today and I show that you should have it by June 24". I said, "What do you mean, I ordered it shipped next day air so if it ships today, it should arrive tomorrow (Friday) not next Wednesday." Her response, "That's right. But we can't say that it HAS shipped today, only that it SHOULD ship today. We won't know until tomorrow if it ships today." At that point I just said thanks and told her goodbye.
Wow Panasonic! Great camera but you are really going to turn people off with this head-up-wazoo shipping!

Yeah I really don't think these people know what they're talking about. I spoke to Sarah and she that there wouldn't be a shipment till August....wtf...haha. I'm over it. I decided to pay the extra and am getting it from Canada. It may take a week or so, but the peace of mind is what I didn't mind paying for. Waiting for this camera has been nuts and I couldn't imagine waiting another month or so. Impulse maybe? Yeah maybe, but to each his own I guess.
