Press 'film mode' twice - not 'record'.

To exit, press and hold the 'set' & left arrow keys', then film mode once.

thanks i have got into service mode

next question gh1 camera info ver1.22
if i use the gh13 patch do i need to up grade the cameras firmware first

When you use P-tool, be certain to tick the first two boxes - 'version increment' & 'prevent version compare'

With these options selected, no matter what number you assign to your hacked firmware, the camera will always report 'firmware 0.0 (actually, 0.01, if you check in rhe service menu.

That means that any firmware that you subsequently add to the camera (whether via P-tool, or an official version) will always be higher than the existing f/w (0.0) and the camera will always upgrade itself.

Thus, if you happen to have an official copy of your existing f/w, v1.22, that will just go back on.

However, you'd first have to get hold of the f1.22. It is no longer available for download from Panasonic (having been superseded by v1.32) but I suppose some people will still have a copy on their computer.

Not quite sure why you'd want to revert to 1.22 anyway - unless you're thinking of restoring the camera if it needed warranty work.

In that case, Panasonic would almost certainly expect the 1.2 firmware to have already been upgraded to the latest 1.32 version - and that *is* freely available from Panasonic, and can easily be put on to the camera, even after hacking, because of the procedure I referred to at the beginning of the post.

I don't think that it's necessary to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.32 before applying the hack - but I did, anyway, and you then just save the downloaded firmware against the day that your GH1 might have to be sent back to Panasonic for repair.

Better hope that never happens though - because there is a 99.99% chance that it will come back to you from Panasonic with the dreaded 1.34 unhackable f/w kindly flashed onto it by Panasonic at no charge

Panasonic GH1 Firmware v1.21 still available
