Well I'm sold, but I do have asian fetish issues.

The footage compressed for the web looks about as compressed as what I'm getting straight out of the D90. Considering the GH1's codec and bitrate is on par with the latest consumer camcorders, with good glass upfront it should look pretty decent.

Barring some announcement from Nikon I'm going to take the plunge with the panny. I'm thinking the HD kit lens could be useful for some steadicam run and gun scenes.

I might sell some wide nikon primes and get the Olympus 14-35mm f/2. http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=3412 It costs more than the GH1 but I'd be able to shoot as fast and wide as I can with the D90 and nikkor primes.

Interesting.

Good find Squig!

Panasonic needs to release raw clips, just Like Canon did with the Mark II. These web page gif, flv etc are great for masking all sorts of issues. It make me suspicious that they have all this show stopping clips, however they don't want to share them without the low res clips. If you believe in your products potential and have footage to post like they are doing, then let the original files go up and then we can judge.....

After Canon's slimy debacle of the joke Rebel 500D, I'm even more hesitant to get positive so easily.

Fingers crossed though........

Thanks squig. I have to get ready to tell my grown up HVX that she is about to have a baby sister soon. Her name will be GH1 unless of course Nikon surprises and she might be named may D400.
Was that the 720p 60?

I downloaded the swf file it's 30fps and a 2.9mb file. I think the straight out of the camera stuff will give the HVX a run for it's money. I'd like to know what lenses they used to shoot these, the 24mm leica f/1.4?

So according to the above link the GH1 plus the LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm F4-5.8 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. lens kit is going for around $1,500.

Which is in sync with the information presented here (link was posted on another board):
http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/cda/dslr/2009/03/25/10532.html

The body is suppose to sell separately for around $1,260, but the 14-140mm HD lens sells separately for $860, so there is a chance it might be cheaper.

Personally, I'm interested in getting a micro-FourThirds to S-mount adapter to attach a Canon 50mm f/0.95 "Dream Lens" to the GH-1, or getting the available Leica M-mount adapter (if my budget permits).

Yeah, quality for quality, image for image this cam just pooped all over the HPX170. And that was compressed.

Storm's a brewin'.

And the D90 is your forgotten step child?

Dread to think that this part isn't gonna come true:

Possible changes in 1/3EV steps
P/A/Sモード時にはオートのISO感度上限設定可能(200/400/800/1600)

That lens definitely isn't wide enough. That's a 35mm at the widest point.

That means you're looking at 9mm 4/3 mount lenses to get a decent wide angle lens.

Yeouch. That means the Tokina 11-16mm would still only be what, a 28? 24 at the widest end?

And then, at the same time, I'm use to thinking about this in the sense that it's connected to a larger camera body. You can move MUCH further back with this small-ass camera, so maybe it's not too bad?

I really think it's more like 35, but if it's 28 then better. That means you start to get close with the Tokina 11-16mm.

But still, not wide enough. Am I addicted to wide lenses? Yes. Do I love the look of a Tokina Zoom on the wide end @ 4k? Yes.

I honestly can't get enough of it. So, considering that my "wants" are a niche within a niche, if the widest most people got would be a 35mm equivalent of 28mm, it's probably plenty enough.

the widest glass I have for the D90 is an 18mm sigma so 27mm @1.5x crop on the D90. It looks like **** wide open @ f/2.8 though. The olympus 14-35mm wide open @ f/2 and sharp would be around the same focal length 28mm @ 2x crop. As far as I know there isn't any other lens as fast at that focal length.

You're addicted to wides man...lets hope you don't lust over women like you do lens.

Never! Lol. But I do love my wides. One of my dream lenses is the Contax Zeiss 21/2

Holy mother. That thing makes me peepee a little every time I see it.
