GH1 Night sky

I've been researching different techniques of shooting the stars in the sky at night. As far as I tell the most effective way of doing this is timelapse like this one: http://www.vimeo.com/914457. I didn't originally want to do timelapse, but this looks pretty damn good so I might do it. Has anyone shot any timelapse like this? or shot the stars at all with the GH1? how would I go about setting the time increments? What iso would people suggest? longest lens possible?

The guy who did the video in the link above said "i think the interval was 5 seconds. f/5, ISO 400, 30-sec, RAW." He shot it on a 350D - about 800 exposures. Does this mean he had the shutter open for 5 seconds then waited 30 seconds, then opened the shutter for 5 seconds etc... or the other way around?
