Would a 500mm have an effective focal length of 1000mm on the GH1 (I thought it was 750mm)? Anyway, nice pictures. I used to camp in Lake Nippising and Kill Bear. Ontario is beautiful.
The video was taken and posted by Michael Reichmann on his Luminous Landscape site. He seem quite taken with the GH1. I tried my Nikon 200-400 at 400mm (800mm equivalent) for some bird video, but I am a photographer spending my spare moments learning FCP and trying to get NeoScene working without the watermarks in all the corners, so I am not yet at the point where I can share anything. I did use the Canon 52D for a week, and despite my GH1 being from Japan (no English menus), It is easier to use than the Canon for video, and the video is very sharp. Yesterday I took some publicity photos of a pianist, and briefly used the GH1 at 1080/30 and 720/60 to experiment. I used the Canon with a 50 f1.2 a few weeks ago when he was doing a trial web recording for a piano company. The piano company loved the quality, but he did not care for it. However yesterday I made a quick DVD of the GH1 video (using iMovie - I tried this in FCP the other day and it took hours to process a 3 minute video, then had an error of some kind) and received email from him saying he loved the video.
