How would you compare the GH1 to the sony EX1 HD cam in low light? Let's say you were using a Nikkor 50mm 1.8. Everyone seems to say the GH1 isn't great in low light compared to the 5D, but how would it fare next to the Sony camera?

I haven't done a side by side comparison but I use both cams and I can assure that the GH1 with an f/1.8 lens is much better in lowlight than the EX1 or any other professional camera I have used (I have also used XDCAM HD 330, Panasonic HVX 200).
The EX1 is better than the GH1 with kit lens, but I would say that if you use lenses faster than f/2.8 the GH1 starts to win.
I should add that, for some reason, banding with high ISOs isn't so bad in my GH1, I am able to shoot up to ISO 800 without much trouble.

When I look at all of the hacked GH1 footage, it does seem to be every bit as good as Canon 5D footage, given the right lenses. It's only really the low light quality that sets the 5D apart, in my opinion. The moire issues of the Canon cameras were just too much for me.

I can shoot up to 800 ASA on the GH13 no problem too. ISO 1600 sucks though, to be honest, although not so bad in black and white.

I realise this hasn't answered your question, by the way, but it seems that was answered already.
