GH1 Live Broadcasting

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the GH1 as a live video feed? I run a daily ustream broadcast and would love to use the camera for dual duty recording various events and also for live webcasting. If it can output a video signal with no overlays via USB, firewire, or some other source, it might work for me.

Also, is it possible to lower the resolution and record in SD?

Thanks,
Darren

You can get the GH1 to output a standard-def composite signal live, but that's it. And you cannot have it output while recording.

There's an AV breakout cable it comes with; that has a yellow composite end, and that's what the live feed goes through. But you have to enable it by holding down the trash can button for like 10 seconds first; it's not enabled by default.

Tell me Barry,

If you had to chose out of a Panasonic Lumix GH1: DSLR with 1080p AVCHD or a HVX202 for filming short films that may use green screen work in a lot of shoots and would have both day and night shots what Camera would you recommend Barry?

I might have to invest in one of these 35mm adapters for my HVX202en. I must say the DSLR cameras are starting to come into the prosumer catagory hard and fast.

It might be a matter of time before we see high end DSLR bodies attched to film grade glass for some silver screen releases.

So let me get this straight: You can use a monitor with SD cables (ie no component or hdmi signal) and get an sd signal. BUT once you hit record, the screen blacks out until it is done recording? Do I have this right? There is no way to record with ANY signal (hd or sd), only setting up and viewing shots?

Thanks
