GH1 Lenses

I have a 24 mm 2.8 and a 50 mm 1.4 currently. Is there any advantage to getting the panny pancake lens. I know it is faster than my 24, but what, specifically besides AF will I get out of it.

Sorry if these seems like a trivial question, but I am fairly new to the GH1

Thanks

the extra couple stops, the compact size, the auto focus, the no brainer quick point and shoot when you're feeling lazy. If the pancake had the focus ratio of a traditional manual lens I would consider it to be the best lens ever for me .....ha. I love everything about it but the manual focus.

I have a 50mm 1.4 too and 17-50 2.8 (Tamron) and bought a pancake. I don't regret a bit. This little lens is simply a joy to shoot. Sharpness and image quality are amazing. You won't be disappointed.

Different opinion... I love my pancake for stills, but it sucks for video (at least in my intended application). You can't get a FF onto it because it's so small, and the focus ring is nowhere as nice to use as a manual lens. I'm using old Zeiss/Contax C/Y primes and there really is no comparison in the look of the footage, in my opinion.

On the other hand it's small and light, super fast and if auto, or some kind of simple steadicam/Merlin is in your arsenal it's the one you want.

It's got the nicest focus ring of any auto lens I've ever used....nice and dampened like a manual film prime.

yeah its not the easiest thing to film with that 20 pulling focus by hand. i can see how it would be good with a focus puller thingy though.
