GH1 GH1 is potentially missing or stolen

I'm not going to go into details because it's complicated. But all I can say is that my GH1 is missing. There is a possibility I may find it, but may not.

It's a hacked GH1 with vintage 1970's camera strap with a gold key pin on one end, 14-42 kit lens, Minolta 50mm f1.7 prime, Quantaray 28mm f2.8, USB/SD reader in a tamron belt-stlye case.

If you see it on the internet, please let me know. It has some sentimental value to me. The gold key was my first national photography award I won in highschool. The strap came from my first camera, a 1979 Minolta I inherited from my parents. The Quantaray lens was the first lens I bought for myself back in highschool in the 90's.

This is a picture of the strap with the gold key:

Always angers me to see any artist get their gear stolen. It just blows my mind how anyone lives with themselves after taking something that's not theirs. I couldn't even bear the thought of not paying a friend or anyone back just a couple quarters... it would make me miserable. Hopefully, there will be some kind of wifi tracking enabled in the GH3, which would be sweet.

yeah I feel the same way, about two months ago my gh2 was stolen. Trying to balance school, work, and paying rent im still saving up to replace it. But I have to just keep moving forward

Yeah, at this point I'm reevaluating what I'm going to do. I'm seriously considering picking up a T4i. Since all but my Nikon 50mm lens with m43 adapter is gone, I'm thinking about the future and what I've shot with my GH1 in the past year and half I've owned it.

The biggest reason I picked it up was because it was hackable (which was exciting at the time) and I got it for $375 brand new from panasonic. But I've had trouble finding a stable hack.

When I look at the landscape now, what I see is a domination of cameras with EF mounts. From the Canon DSLRs, to the BMC, to the C100/C300/C500 and the RED Scarlet. It seems the wisest investment is to buy EF glass if you are going to start from scratch and build an arsenal of lenses. Especially if you do video and photography.

The higher res LCD screen, addition of STM lenses for AF during video and longer record times on the T4i, take away some of the benefits of the GH series that I liked over the old Canons. Add in 14bit raw photos and a slightly bigger body (which I like) and it's starting to make more sense to go Canon.

Sure the video image quality isn't up there with the hacked GH camera. But all of my stuff has been going to the web whether personal or client work. Although most of my client work is still shot on an XHA1. When it comes to still, the Canon has the edge in IQ.

I'm still thinking about it. But now that I don't have any real ties to the GH series anymore, short a nikon adapter. The choice to go back to GH is not as easy.

So I changed my mind. I'm buying a GH2. Rewatched some GH2 footage and some of my old GH1 footage and just couldn't resist. Although I thought my lens logic above was sound. Just too bad their aren't inexpensive all-in-one all-features-go EF to m43 adapters.

Also I found this in my fortune cookie last night. Would be nice if it were true. Quite a coincidence.

At the very least it gave me an idea for a short film where a Chinese restaurant always gives out fortunes that come true. But not always the best fortunes.
