Hi guys,

I recently bought a previously unhackable GH1, and thought it would be cool to make a couple step by step, how to hack videos. These videos are intended for first time hackers, or for newbies who have recently purchased a GH1. It is also great for professionals who need to get the most out of their GH1's.

I have included some GH17 test footage, camera settings, shutter settings, film mode settings, custom PTool settings, a hacked GH1_136 file, and much, much more.

Please check it out if you get the chance.

Ironically, I hacked it on a "Hackintosh" that I made. But effectively yes, it was hacked on a "Mac" running OSX. Doesn't really matter if you do it on a mac or pc, it works fine on both.

Thanks for the easy to follow guide. I am one who always does better with visual instruction over verbal or written instructions. I've been in the air between saving for another month or two for a GH2, or getting a GH1 this month, (I hate waiting). I think you helped seal the deal and reduce the anxiety that would have come from paying so much for a GH2. I am in Japan so the GH1's are abundant, but I may need to take advantage of the Multi language hack.

Thanks again, excellent work !

Glad I could help. Wish I was in Japan... I will trade you Los Angeles for it any day of the week. Let me know if you have any questions if you do decide to go with the GH1 hack.

Cheers,
Michael

How long does it take for the firmware to upload? I have a brand new charged battery, but I may have used it for about a total time of 30 mins

about 2 minutes-haven't timed it. but, charge the battery to 100%. make that a habit and you will never lose power during a firmware change and brick your camera. you can charge your battery 1000's of times-you can run out of power and brick your camera, once.
and, don't use the a/c adapter. there is a small risk of it becoming unplugged or the power shutting off-again, you'll brick your camera.
