GH1/GH2 colour space

I've probably just been reading too many forum threads about RGB vs 701 lately and now I'm in a bit of a muddle. Can someone please help me clarify.

* RGB levels are 0-255.
* 701 levels (HD Broadcast) are 16-235.

Should I treat the MTS images that come out of the GH1/GH2 as RGB (0-255) and adjust them to 701 for broadcast when grading in my NLE?

OR

Once I import the images into an NLE such as Vegas will they come in as 16-235 already?

In Avid I bring them in RGB and correct from there.

you're using Avid, rigs ?
a bit off topic but-
i find it so annoying that this is the only editing software i am used to (tried all the rest- hate them)
and i have to do all this transcoding madness. what's your preferable workflow ?
importing all material in high quality and x5 the data size?
or using the lowest DNxHD and batch import afterward? (which could get messy with all those file names)?
