GH1 - Fluttering!!!

I'm half way through filming a short film and I just did a night-time shot on a well lit street on my unhacked GH1 with my Canon FD 50mm 1.4 lens. Footage looked fine when playing back on the viewfinder but upon returning home and playing it back on my computer there was like a horizontal flutter going upon through the screen on my close-up shots and establishing shots but it looked ok on the medium shot?? So annoyed because it ruined tonights work. Has anyone else had this problem with their GH1? Did I set the ISO all wrong or what? I think I had it at shutter speed either 1/50 or 1/60 (I have a PAL model), ISO at 500 and aperture wide open at 1.4

Shutter speed and streetlights. It will happen to ALL cameras that have CMOS sensors. You have to use the shutter speed that corresponds to your country's power cycle, so if you had 1/60th under 50Hz lights, yeah, that'll do it.

That's exactly what I think happened. I filmed the medium shot in 1/50 shutter speed and accidently nudged up to 1/60 shutter speed without realising. That is very interesting how street lights can have that effect..... crazy stuff.

Just for the record, having a PAL camera, I'd be best suited to shooting at 1/50 shutter speed?? Isn't that correct?

Yes, glue the shutter speed on 1/50th in PAL territory and just don't change it ever, and you should forever be free of that issue.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just more two things I was wanting to ask;
1) With regards to standard room lights, are they 50Hz as well?
2) If I was to film a fast moving action sequence, would I need to bump my shutter sppeed up to 1/100?
