Hi. Just wanted to let people know I am editing a documentary called Men of La Mancha. http://menoflamancha.org (trailer and website). It is a story about the sadness of death, poverty, orphans and reckless criminals but also about the good we do that has an impact far beyond our own lives. In the film one of the main characters, me, is nearly killed on a motorcycle in Guatemala and the other main character dies in a violent plane crash. The third main character is boy Moises who was dying in Belize but I filmed him on my HV30 and a hospital in the US saw the video and decided to give the boy free medical care for 6 months and they saved him. While this film is not religious, it will explore the ideas of the meaning and equity of life and death. It will be a very spiritual but also a sort of crazy humorous movie (in the vein of Don Quixote). It was shot over 2 years in California, Texas, Arksansas, Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.

The primary camera is the GH1. Some of the last stuff I shot was with GH13. Some of the earliest stuff was on Canon HV30 and there is several point and shoot cam footage I am working with.

Cutting in Adobe CS5 conformed all to 1280x720 30fps. I actually will need a professional editor to help me finish once I whittle the draft down to 2-3 hours. Final cut will be 1:10 or so.

I don't know if this is the right forum for this so please move if not. I just wanted to let people know of a full feature doc shot on GH1 that will be finished sometime later this year (I also have a kickstarter campaign going on, see About page).

thanks. its hard for me to make a trailer because my mind is not really into marketing. the entire film is actually easier to edit. One problem with the trailer is it does not show how crazy and humorous this movie is. It's odd because its crazy and humorous but also very serious and sad and sometimes real happy since it deals with a saved life and a tragic death. It's eery to edit at times because of everything that happened while camera was rolling.

Just wanted to make small update here. The film has been done for a while now and it has won a few awards and will be shown at a prestigious film festival in Mexico this year, I will post details when I am allowed to make the announcement. The trailer and website are at http://lamanchamedia.org/

Two men leave their professions in California, a lawyer and an engineer, to film Americans living in Central America that serve the poor, orphaned, prisoners and the dying, while at the same time recovering a smashed motorcycle. Taking their roles as Don Quixote and Sancho Panza they pass through the Mayan lands of Mexico, Belize and Guatemala experiencing both incredible adventures and maddening misfortunes. They bring hope to others and to themselves but also find great sadness and tragedy on the way and in the days ahead.

A full feature documentary film with duration of 91 minutes, now submitting to film festivals. Available in HD download, DVD and Blu Ray in Fall 2012 here. English, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.
